Al Haymon vs Eddie Hearn, How Does This All Shake Out

Now that it seems like Eddie & Al have approx. the same budget & are both on ground in the US to try to gain market share in the boxing space how do you see this all working out over the next couple years to a decade out from now?

How does or do TR's ESPN/ESPN+ & HBO fit into all this?

Eddie Hearn keeps his fighters active.

    Just ask Amir Kahn.

I don't see there really being a battle between them in the US. If Hearn tries to counter program he's going to get buried. Hearn's best move would be to make money first, not to to take over or get in a war. He'll bleed money if he tries to play with Haymon to seems to be able to blow millions and still stay afloat.

Think its out of Hearn's hands now, do as hes doing, picking up whats available. Up to DAZN to take off now. If its a success he'll be back in the market for the names he wanted.

People pay too much attention to promoters/managers. The more of them the better for the fans. Those taking sides and piting them against each other aren’t fans IMHO.

Haymon is a businessman not a promoter or matchmaker.

Hearn will win as he is open to working with everybody, where as Haymon operates more in house.

I can see Haymon realising that he and Hearn together could make a lot of money.

Right now it looks from a North American perspective

1 entity is backed and has deals with the #1 boxing platform ( Showtime ) and just announced a deal with a major cable outlet ( Fox ) with a combined buget of 100 million + per year and has a stable of probably 3/4 of fighters fans whether hardcore or casual actually give a sh.it about

While the other has the backing of a unknown and unheard of streaming service app with a unknown budget because Hearn has shown he can’t be believed so who knows what the first couple years buget actually is and a stable of decent UK talent that Americans don’t know or care about and collection of rag tag American fighters all of whom have no buzz

Right now Doesn’t seem like a competition to me

              I could be wrong

Hearn and Arum are pushing purses up, yet they have less top earners than PBC has to pay. All these PBC guys are gunna want more money now. How many are in the top earners? 15-20? Mid level guys will want more also. Hearn and Arum maybe a 1/3 of that. Hearn's budget has to cover 16 cards, PBC 50. I still dont think with these deals PBC has enough money, they have too many top guys whos demands are going to be going up.

I think promoters control the sport largely. Fights happen or don't happen cuz of promotional ties/alliances all the time.

The more of them the better for the fans.
Of f#cking course its good for fans, but its unlikely to be a sustainable situation long term for the guys throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into the sport right now.

Some guys will win. Some guys will lose. Thats just how sh^t works.

Those taking sides and piting them against each other aren’t fans IMHO.
I think people can like w/e they want about boxing. The can like hating on mfers, they can hate the "runners", they can hate the Gatti-type mfers, they can appreciate everyone who gets in the ring, they can be selective in who they like & a million other things. All of them are fans of boxing doe. Its silly to suggest some people aren't fans cuz of how they choose to enjoy the sport.

Hell I think all you dorks who've never seen half the guys on your P4P ATG list are f#cking lame ******s, but I'd never suggest they aren't fans for trying to play that child-ish & impossible game of ATG.

I said in another thread w/e the budget DAZN is or isn't if it was $125M a year I can't believe it still is with the roster he's got. He's be overpaying the f#ck outta that group of guys if he spread out $125M/yr between them. I'm asking for my change back if I'm the guy writing the checks at DAZN.

Thing is Hearn is actually a promoter & can sell herpes to a whore. And PBC has left a lot to be desired in their matchmaking with their top guys. I've actually enjoyed manner of there non-top guys matchups which are often very solid matchups for us hardcore fans, but the bigger names don't seem to fight each other often enough. Will that change now that someone else is paying Haymon to show fights & this timesharing w/e situation is over? Idk, but I'd hope so.

So Hearn has the clear edge with the hyping of his product, but yea the fact PBC will be having FREEEEEEEEEEE (*Steve Kim voice*) content & Hearn will have to get guys to pay $10/mo for Joshua & his ragtag bunch of US fighters no one really cared about THAT much up til now is quite the hill to climb.
