Would you pay $10 if it had been marketed as a sport TV channel? That's these Hearn fanboys don't get. It's not about the price. $10 is nothing, but I'm not gonna spend $10 on an app that I will only use for a few hours on a Saturday. I could careless about Bellator. DAZN just won't have any other content that will interest me. ESPN+ has a lot of content but even at that, I never really used it other for one fight.
I dont really understand the trend of looking down on DAZN because its an "app". I would be amazed if they won't be streaming in UHD/HDR soon enough on you know, big screen TVs.Comment

It's not worth the squeeze because American promoters doesn't have effective marketing strategies for selling European fighters. They know how to sell Latin fighters - they have large domestic fanbase in States. They've figured out how to sell Manny. But they don't know which fanbase they should relate to, with these "-chenkos", they never had this experience. Look at UFC and Khabib, maybe he isn't a big superstar but he has a big following if you look at social media, Instagram and things like that, because he also has support of Middle Eastern countries and ****** audience in general which is pretty big, actually. They're not the ones who brings money for PPV but anyway. Promoters like Bob Arum or Al Haymon clearly doesn't want to take risk and develop these ways of selling "Eastern" fighters with superstar ability (Lomachenko is the exception because of few reasons), it's a risky investment for them. Eddie Hearn is new face in this game, young and ambitious (and I respect it, I don't like Joshua, have nothing against Hearn) so it's up to people like him to take the first step.Sure I'd agree with that. But you still gotta make sure the juice is worth the squeeze. And Usyk is The 200lb Champion + a tip top P4P guy, argument for him being #1. Thats a guy who's gonna want a nice amount of money to sign with you more than likely. He's a superstar in ability, but not in popularity in the US.
I think Andrade is probably the pickup in that case cuz his potential upside is higher. Or if its for the same money it is. If you can pickup Usyk for less he might be the pickup if its less enough as long as we are talking about US promotion.
Remember Daniyar Elleusinov, Kazakh fighter with great backfoot game, not a fan friendly style but amazing exceptional talent.
He was sitting on the shelf, thinking about returning to amateurs because he wasn't getting no offers at all. Talents like him should be signed at the first possibility. And Eddie Hearn was the only person who reached out to sign him. Which confirms the point about him I've made earlier - it's up to new faces to take risks. I doubt the guy like Daniyar costs more that Lipinets.
Unlike Daniyar, Lipinets doesn't have ANY amateur experience, nothing at all, that would suggest he's going to be a top level fighter. Like I've said, these fighters serve a different purpose, and sometimes I think Lipinets was signed just to make him grab a belt and then give it to a better fighter in the stable.
Before Glowacki fight, Usyk was in the same position as Daniyar now, another great amateur talent with lots of potential in pros. And I doubt his price was too high back then. After the tournament and undisputed status, sure thing, he costs way more now. It's already a lost opportunity for promoters, it'd be better for them to notice the talent when it's cheap, it's their work, this is what they're supposed to doLast edited by g27region; 09-07-2018, 09:15 PM.Comment

That chance is always there, but Usyk will expose AJ IMO. if you guys haven't seen Usyk vs Joyce, that's basically how I expect it to go down.
the commentary is insanely biased, but incredible performance regardlessComment

So NO American promoter knows how to do this? Idk about that. I think its hard enough to build an American star in America. I mean there are only a handful of names who reach the mainstream public at any given time & just 1 to maybe 3 or 4 max big time guys like Manny, Floyd, Tyson, Holyfield & etc caliber guys around in a specific era.
And hell man who's building up US or other country boxers in their own country anyway? Maybe Germany is about the only place I can think of off the top of my head who got behind a foreign fighter big time with the Klitschko brothers (& I feel like one other guy for sure, but I'm not recalling his name). Its a rough road to make a guy big outside of his home country & its a better decision to throw money at your own countries guys who have a better chance to become mainstream.
Well there is a huge population of Latinos in the US. And they are a group who f#cking love boxing on top of it which is a big plus too. And they are spread out all through out the US. When I lived in Michigan my homie was from Mexico & he introduced me too loads of mfers who were illegally in the US. In f#cking random Michigan ffs. Where are all the Ukrainian populations at in the US to support all these high level Ukrainian boxers? Idk, but I'm sure there are little pockets of them, but nothing like the Latino fans + they probably aren't as big boxing fans as the Latinos so if they were even here in Latino-like numbers maybe they still don't show up to fights. The Latino's in the US who are hardcore loyal boxing fans are a special case & idk if there is another country with that sorta situation going on.They know how to sell Latin fighters - they have large domestic fanbase in States.
I already noted why I feel like Lennox, Manny & Gennedy became bigger names in the US. They all had a lil extra going on that helped them ALONG with being high level fights & probably more entertaining then the average guy in their division to. So if you don't got something extra going on you got even more of an uphill battle being a foreign fighter. They've figured out how to sell Manny.
I think Arum has taken a risk with Loma. And Loma is one of these guys to that could have that extra thing to become the 4th foreign guy to go mainstream with all these lil tricks he does. I wouldn't bet on it, but he's among the top foreign guys I could see becoming mainstream. But they don't know which fanbase they should relate to, with these "-chenkos", they never had this experience. I think you are giving Hearn too much credit for the Usyk pickup. I mean ffs this cat picked up Tevin Farmer a couple weeks ago. Hearn is a cat with a big pile of money who doesn't really have a roster worth giving all that money to right now lol. I mean ffs he's got $125M a year to give to Farmer, Andrade, Hooker, Big Baby & Jessie f#cking Vargas along with a few others.Eddie Hearn is new face in this game, young and ambitious (and I respect it, I don't like Joshua, have nothing against Hearn) so it's up to people like him to take the first step.
Holy f#cking sh^t man. Thats f#cking nuts. If I was DAZN I'd be like a mom handing her kid a $10 bill to run to the store for some milk & making sure he's aware she's expecting her change back cuz I'm sure DAZN is gonna be like "bruh you aren't spending our $125M on this rag tag bunch of mfers...well give you $40M this year".
I've not seen Daniyar that I can recall so I can't really comment on his pro outlook, but NO ONE picking him up is concerning. I mean there is boxing virtually everywhere now. Why didn't someone in his own country pick him up?Remember Daniyar Elleusinov, Kazakh fighter with great backfoot game, not a fan friendly style but amazing exceptional talent.

Also Lipinets did have an amateur career, but a short one (40ish fights iirc) + he was a championship level kickboxer iirc. I definitely don't think he got picked up to gift another guy a belt. I think Lipinets gots some talent & I think while he lost to Mikey he showed he can compete with the best guys out there. I think he's one of these cats who actually have been in Al's office & not one of these guys who Al just talks to on the phone.
Idk about all that lol. I remember Usyk was getting hyped a lot before he turned pro. I remember seeing like his 3rd or 4th fight cuz I was curious wtf was up with this cat who I'd been hearing about. Daniyar doesn't have nearly that much hype. That doesn't necessarily mean he's not better or has more upside with Usyk, but don't downplay what was going on with Usyk early on. He was merking fouls & moving along at a good rate. Before Glowacki fight, Usyk was in the same position as Daniyar now, another great amateur talent with lots of potential in pros. Usyk will win every round against every heavyweight until (or if) he gets hit. I’d make him favorite over them all. He’s a super talent and it’s a crap division.Comment

Officially, Joyce is roughly the same size, 6ft 6in and around 235lbs. Judging by his pro record so far he has good power too, and I think his engine could be superior to Joshua’s.
That said Joshua’s frame is bigger, I think he hits harder and is a better overall talent. But Usyk would give Joshua fits, as you say the movement, feints and twitches are several levels above Parker’s who confused him.
The only question mark for me is if Usyk can keep up his workrate at the higher weight, or if Joshua etc can wear him down over 12 rounds. Usyk’s stamina at cruiser was superb, so if he carries that up to heavy then I think he’ll beat the lot.Comment
