Well Golovkin doesnt have the luxury of having Mexican television marketing him since he was a teen. Hes from a country that is thousands of miles away from mainstream boxing. Hes had subpar management. Hes been avoided by the bigger names in his division for a number of years.

On the other hand, canelo has been having his bouts televised on Mexican tv since he was a kid. Hes from Mexico which produces a large amount of fighters. Hes signed to one of the biggest promoters of the era and nobody has ever not wanted to fight him.

Pac became a star after many fights with Mexicans. It wasn’t until probably the third Marquez fight were he became well liked among many Mexican fans. However he isn’t a star because of Mexicans. His fan base is a huge Filipino community and whites predominant. He also had a lot more stars in his divisions.
