Hatton had far too much overconfidence.

He should have looked to stay on the back foot and attempt to counter not rush forward chin up

Seems like a bad style match up, but Hattom didn't exactly fight a great fight either that night.

Hatton was weight drained as ****.... look how unhealthy and dry he looks at the weigh in, compared to how he looked for the Mayweather fight... he was done at 140 pounds years ago... but he thought the reason he lost to Mayweather, is because he was too small for 147.... little did he know, it was actually just because Floyd is/was better, and that 147 was actually his natural weight (at that stage of his career).

Although the Kostya Tszyu fight kind of made Hatton famous and was an amazing fight (being a Hatton fan it was anyway). I always felt it changed him as a fighter.

Before that he was more in and out picking the right spots and boxing clever, in the Tszyu fight he basically walked through him and broke him down.

Imo he then used that as his main strategy and along with his obvious weight issues in between camps it really cost him at the top level.

Edit> saying that I still think Floyd and Pacquiao beat him regardless.

Speed was the biggest difference in this fight hatton came out slow cautious. Manny came out confident and able to throw down fury from the get go.

Hatton in the last few years became a slow starter in some fights. It hurt him against pac.

Hatton had the same bad habit. He would throw a punch then fall in face first to clinch. Pacquiao was ready for it. It set up a perfect KO.

Pacquiao is most dangerous counterpunching and in the middle of exchange.

He kept coming at pac and kept getting tagged.

                  Marg too got beat up.

Cotto got hurt bad being counterpunched.
