Comments Thread For: Barry Hearn: We Should Wait Two Years To Make Joshua-Wilder

What Barry Hearn said aligns with what actually happened and fits into the current schedule of Joshua fights (Povetkin, Whyte, IBF mandatory). Joshua is not ready to fight Wilder yet and was never the man to beat or the number 1 heavyweight in the world. He still has a popular following in the UK, but after the Takam and Parker fights, he's still not ready to face the longest reigning champion and the most dangerous threat in the division...
As luck would have it, the lineal champ Fury IS ready to fight Wilder and after 9 straight months of training, has no problem coming to Vegas to prove it. Joshua can continue to develop as a fighter in the safe, supportive confines of the UK and build up his confidence with some emphatic wins. Then, as scheduled, he'll probably be ready to step up in late 2019, early 2020. If he hasn't been knocked out by then...Last edited by davefromvancouv; 09-01-2018, 02:51 PM.Comment

I hadn't join this site at the time so yeah, I wasn't writing this then.
But you're absolutely right. He should of fought WK when he had the opportunity, way before Anthony Joshua fought him.
I'm not making any excuses for Wilder. He ducked WK and that's all there is to it.Comment

Moot, Subject to debate..
I wrote that Joshua ...."fought Martin a big undefeated HW Champion (yes we now know he was rubbish)",
Moot, so to debate this the point I am making is why did Wilder with his own money men not fight Martin, or Parker etc. Also in brackets i made comment on the fighters, with Martin being called Rubbish, which begs the question why did Wilder not get in there first and fight him. So yes my argument (I am not arguing only making a point) as you call it is in fact moot. Lets debate what Wilder has done in 40 fights and why has he not fought these guys.Comment

Breazeale is the "Mando" right now. Beating Whyte would not be a benefit besides money. He needs a fight, and Ortiz has to bring more money than Ugonoh did!I believe more money and he is no1 ranked in the WBC organisation and virtually all of major organisations so it makes sense. You can’t blame him. Ortiz is more a dangerous fight with no reward what so ever. If he beat Ortiz he would be in the exact same position but if he beat Whyte it would be beneficial for himComment

Yes but he is not ranked 1 with the WBC as confusing as it may sound. He is mandatory but Whyte is no 1 also if Breazeale was to beat Whyte he would be ranked with highly with the other organisations which is not the case now. Not to mention the Money which is as far as he should be concerned the deal breaker why all roads point to Whyte.
Breazeale is surplus to requirements. He will give his right arm to be on Dazn. Yes he is mandatory to Wilder but in all honesty he may not get an opportunity to fight Wilder till 2020Comment

If you're supposedly the world champion and you're not willing to fight the best out there you should vacate the belts like Rid**** Bowe did when he chucked his belt in the bin instead of fighting Lennox Lewis. This is the same deal in a different era. Chicken **** Hearn!Comment
