Huge mistake by his team. Lomo will tear him apart after.
I really don’t get that “he’s so afraid of Loma” BS he’d rather fight spence who can probably KO them both in one night. That is just so shallow thinking in my opinion. Only a puzz would think that, they are world champions for a reason and that is not one of them.
It’s like saying Brook is so scared of Khan he took on GGG instead. Duran is so scared of the rising 135lbers he took on Leonard at 147 instead lmao.

And to answer your question, it depends on the damage Spence will be able to inflict. If spence breaks his sockets then he’ll not be the same. If spence wins by a body punch KO in the early rounds, then chances are Mikey will still be the same and no excuses next when he fights Loma at 135.
If its a 12 round beating from
Pillar to post with his corner refusing to throw in the towel, then he’s damaged goods afterwards.

No matter the result though, he should still be Loma’s biggest win

You're assuming Garcia is walking into a trap only because it'll look better to fans? That's ridiculous. If you really think Garcia is aiming at Spence because he thinks a beating from Spence would look better than a beating from Loma than you're really looking at this all wrong.

Garcia is trying to be great. He wants Spence because it challenges him. Why not fight a lower tier welterweight and get the same result? Wouldn't people say the same thing? "He fought a bigger guy, much respect to Garcia." The reason Garcia isn't fighting Loma is because Loma or specifically Bob Arum doesn't want Loma anywhere near Garcia. Not only that but Top Rank's falling out with Garcia makes it even harder to make.

To think that these fighters are going up in weight simply to avoid a fighter in their division at the expense of an ass whooping is ridiculous. I'm sorry.. Like Chavez Sr. says, "Con todo respeto." ("With all due respect.")

Yes. He is going to bail on the first sign of trouble. Expect Robert to throw in the towel or Mikey being counted out from a body shot like Spence's last fight.

He won’t fight Spence. But IF he does he’ll get hammered and probably not be the same. He may be looking to retirement I suspect.

What you are saying is two weight classes used to be only one weight class. In the past lots of welterweight champions challenged the middleweight champion and nobody was shocked or piss off about it or thought it was a gross unfair mismatch. Sometimes the welterweight champion beat the middleweight champion. Basillo beat Robinson and Griffith beat **** Tiger. Brook is a poor example. Brook had long outgrown welterweight and probably outweighed GGG in the ring. He didn't get ruined because he was this tiny little guy fighting this huge GGG. GGG was just a much better fighter and a much harder puncher. He broke bones in Brook's face that never healed as good as new. Then Brook returned to welterweight where he was not strong and got crushed again by Spence. That is what ruined Brook not that he fought a middleweight but that he fought the wrong middleweight who ruined his face.Mikey has already won a title at 140 so he is only moving up 7 pounds for Spence. Mikey weighed 149 on fight night for Easter and Spence weighed 156 on fight night his last fight. There is only 7 pounds difference in their respective fight night weights and Mikey will weigh more than 149 on fight night if he fights Spence. SPence should knock Mikey out but not because he is so much bigger. Spence is just a much better fighter who hits much harder, takes a punch much better and throws many more punches per round. Mikey should be able to bounce back from a Spence KO defeat to be as good as he ever was.

I do know that Lomachenko's win over Mikey after losing to Spence will "mean nothing"

The same 'fighters'? Are you saying Mikey is more than one person?

I guess his massive head is hiding another person / alien inside it like in Independence Day

Spence comes in to the ring about 165-170 lbs with almost no body fat. Mikey is a lot softer and is about 145 lbs fight night. They are not even close to the same size.

Those who claim a good boxer will never be as good after being KOed are ignoring boxing history. Many old time greats suffered one or more brutal KO defeats and went on to be great champions, Joe Louis, Dempsey, more than once, Archie Moore, Lewis, twice, Wlad, three times, Pacquiao, more than once and an endless list of others.

NO contract....No agreement....And we still talking about a fight that aint close to being signed
