Based on what Abel actually said and his reasoning, I don’t blame him. I would have rejected the gloves too. He stated his case clearly within the rules. And he has every right to protect his fighter and guard against any advantages. It’s a very important fight. And he said any gloves that have been used in championship fights and have been tested, Canelo can pick ANY of them.
And it’s not the time for Canelo to be trying to use gloves that haven’t been used in championship fights for this fight of all fights.

It just doesn’t look good at all. Not really sure about his team. Common sense says people will question their motives. It would be similiar to Tom Brady requesting to play with new footballs his company created right after his suspension from the deflategate scandal.

Sparring gloves and fighting gloves are made in a completely different way.

A championship fight is not the place to be testing a new brand of gloves for the first time ever. That’s common sense
