I remember when PBC was about the free boxing model: CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX were all supposed to feature PBC. Even Spike and ESPN weren't too bad because they were basic cable channels. The result? More fights on Showtime. A channel Haymon's fighters had already been fighting on since 2013 when Mayweather signed a contract with Showtime, two years before PBC even existed.

Even during PBC's first year, Haymon's fighters still fought on Showtime without the PBC banner. This is just more of the same. There's just a banner over it.

Showtime Championship Boxing or Showtime Championship Boxing presented by PBC.

The Rose Bowl or the Rose Bowl presented by Northwestern Mutual.

It's the same thing it was before.

Of course Showtime wanted to lock down a formal agreement with FOX lurking around the PBC brand.

As I've always said, the ratings across all those networks and platforms were used to get sound data that would be used prove/justify a business model (which would lead to content deals).

It's all coming to fruition now. I'm still interested to see how Top Rank will alter their production.

I think both PBC and Top Rank need start focusing more on fighter discovery via shows like All-Access. ShoBox has proven to be effective. Looking forward to more of that coverage in the future.

DAZN is still a mystery and GBP needs to be sold or bring in better leadership to run things. Canelo is the whole business. The Facebook and ESPN content has been nothing but disappointing.
With the handshake agreement between Espinoza and Haymon now being nailed down as a formal deal, it would seem 'other deals' are getting closer to being done too.
according to Scipio2009 if they don’t announce the dollar amount Then it’s just not a big deal

Well it certainly didnt 'take over' anything. Looks like showtime saved the pbc. And hey im glad they did. I always wanted it to succeed. But lets not get all delusional. Pretty obvious what happened

I suspect that Haymon's initial plan for PBC involved having fighters on HBO as well as Showtime and the free networks. To make it THE boxing brand and drive up the rights fee.

When HBO blocked Haymon fighters from their airwaves that ruined his idea somewhat. And it kept PBC from becoming as big as he thought it could.

They need to add more digital content which I think they will. When Espinoza says monthly series, does that mean he will now put on shows during college football season for the duration of it? I mean so far there has been no October card announced yet, and I know they put on a few last year during that time, including Charlo vs Lubin. They put on 15 cards last year on SHO (exc SHO Extreme), can we expect the same amount of cards in 2019, or that number will jump close to 20? And then of course we shall see what the FOX deal amounts to. If they give 6-8 big dates as rumored plus 20 SHO cards or 20 big level cards, then Haymon guys should be more active no doubt. Damn near doubles the amount of shows they have been having the last few years.

Fox coming next few weeks. Leaking like crazy around PBC, Fox major deal bigger than this one. Two deals, both paying, one on network (big fox and fs1) and one on cable. Guess PBC isn't dead/scam/******. Funny. Can't wait for fox announcement. Hopefully around NFL.

That's not true. SHO got in the Haymon business right around the time Mayweather announced his deal with them and essentially GBP took all their guys there. HBO wasn't in the Haymon business far before the PBC got launched. Now, does HBO still do business with Haymon fighters? Of course, but not like they used to, nor any Haymon promoted cards (you know what I mean).

Haymon essentially wanted to make the PBC into a league, but it was going to be hard for that to happen with the amount of promoters in boxing and how he would have needed damn near 90% of the best fighters to make it work like the UFC. When the PBC took off, how many of the P4P top 10 fighters were signed with Haymon? Even Floyd doesn't count since he was never going to fight on a PBC card. So the model has been flipped a bit, but still can be successful. SHO is likely going to budget over $50 million in rights fees for this new extension and if Haymon can get around $35 million for FOX, then that's not bad at all. I say $35 million because there will only be 6-8 big cards per year on FOX. The rest will be on FS1. You don't need HUGE right fees for that. Now, if they want more boxing cards and better cards on FS1 like they did for UFC? Then by all means they would need to increase their rights fee. I believe with the amount of content that they need after the UFC signed with ESPN, it is certainly possible that happens.
