Former three division world champion Abner Mares (31-3-1, 15 KOs) is very motivated to move up in weight for a showdown with WBA super featherweight king Gervonta Davis (20-0, 19 KOs). The fight has been mentioned in recent weeks. Davis' promoter, Floyd Mayweather, has expressed interest in making the fight happen.

Mares been fighting as a pro longer and isn't done yet, I think it would be a competitive fight while it lasts where Mares can give Davis some problems. Good opponent for a young fighter to gain experience and after that he can fight Farmer.

Hit up BoxRec now and take the L on your record. The brutal beating isn’t necessary.

Great fight. Experience vs pure talent. Make this one happen.

It is a great fight for both fighters, but I don't think that fight with Farmer will happen, because Farmer is with Hearn! If it was going to happen, it would be happening next! I think Davis goes to 135 next! Hopefully we'll get Davis vs. Haney in 2019!

I'd like to see Mares pull it off. Davis is a bit overrated and inconsistent. Mares will be a great test for him.
