Just further proof to show boxing is a business and not a typical sport, even if you are top 10 fighter in your weight class, if you aren’t hot, you get dropped.
Hope Kovalev still exercises his rematch clause, would love to see him avenge the loss then see if another network brings him over.
Exactly. It's crap that a ranked fighter no matter how up the ladder he goes doesn't get the coverage because they've decided he's not PPV material. Look at football (soccer), tennis, even MMA....you're ranking is recognised and is given coverage period, not up to bean counters deciding how many tickets will sell.

I'll watch it wherever it airs. First one was a good scrap right until the hammer got dropped on Kovalev

Few months earlier and we could have had a LHW wbss. Get Alvarez/Kovalev and Bivol on DAZN, so theres no issues with having a LHW WBSS for season 3.

He lost plus the fight did poor ratings. If the fight did over 1M, I guarantee they would show the rematch.

Typical HBO contract for as long as I’ve ever known had opt-out language anytime after a second loss. Also escalators (bigger money) to keep winning.

They’ve allowed him three now. He’s damaged goods. You can sell him as exciting but you can’t sell him as someone on the rise anymore.

The fear of losing HBO without Kovalev is the reason Main Events never made the Stevenson fight. They knew if he took the fight and lost, HBO wouldn't resign him, and more importantly, Main Events would be pushed completely off of HBO.
