He really wasn't bad. He had a nice amateur career. He handled the journeymen and fringe contenders like a prospect should.
His main problem was his defense. However, to be fair, in the Jirov fight, he was totally dominating every round, until he was hit with the rabbit punch, that led to the knockdowns/brain bleed.
I don't think it's out of the question that he could have won a strap. I mean if John Ruiz could hold a version of the Heavyweight Title, Baby Joe probably could have as well.
