Yeah because for once Charlo wasn't bragging about himself (until the last fight), wasn't being negative about other fighters, and wasn't shilling for Haymon A-sides like many Haymon fighters do. And there was no racial slant to his commentary or styles bias like many commentators. When the white pressure fighter was fighting they were picking him up, maybe even overhyping how good he is, and they were appreciating offensive styles instead of criticizing. Charlo even said he will be as good as me soon because he's young. Not sure I believe that but it just shows they were giving equal treatment for once instead of biased commentary. And when the Latino fighter was beating the Haymon A-side Clark, they said Clark was way behind instead of acting like it was a close fight to set it up for the judges to rob the other guy, which often happens on PBC cards.
Charlo also said he wants to fight the best, and didn't like the idea of a fight against Monroe. That's the opposite from most of these situations in the PBC where they try to overhype the limited opponent in order to get an easy payday. Instead, Charlo was criticizing and underhyping him if you will in order to say 'he's not good enough to be my opponent, I want top guys now.'
That's what fans want. So in all those ways it was well done by Charlo, but it has to be consistent. And I still have a hard time liking him for waiting until GGG got old before moving to middleweight, despite being much bigger than GGG the whole damn time. So even when he says he wants to fight the best now, what he really means is "I want to fight the formerly best guy who is now old and struggled in his last two fights, because now I have a better shot at beating him. When he was really at his best, I hid down at 154 despite being way bigger than him. But now I want to fight an old, smaller opponent. I'm real brave." Nah man, it doesn't work like that.
You know who Charlo should fight? Dmitry Bivol. That would be a *****ing great fight. Both in their primes, both the same size. One is good enough to fight bigger guys at light heavyweight, which resulted in him looking slightly less spectacular his last fight, one has never dared to do that and fights smaller guys instead so looks more spectacular recently, but both are the same size in actual fact, both are fast, both are explosive, both are powerful, both are skilled. That's a great fight. Most importantly, both in their primes, both very twitchy, not pushing their punches underwater like GGG. That would be a great fight. That's the type of fight that would earn massive respect for Charlo, a statement fight. Bivol says he can make 168 easily, Charlo should have been at 168 this whole time, so that's the real fight to make.
