    At that point Povetkin was on the juice and KOing anything and everything in sight. Now? After testing positive for two tests? Doesn't seem like the same killer. Was wobbled against Price and looked less than spectacular. But anyways, the fight itself isn't bad. Folks that are upset are upset because the Wilder fight isn't taking place. Remove Wilder from the formula, and I doubt this fight gets much drawback.

      Timing.

      At the time of that proposed match, Povetkin would have been the best opponent of Wilder's career and a long awaited step up in class. It was a fight people wanted to see.
      Whilst Povetkin is a tough opponent, this is NOT a step up in class for Joshua at this point in his career and that's the difference.

      When it came to Joshua, the only fight people wanted to see was him vs. Wilder. The time to make that fight was right, and the headlines were dominated by it for weeks. So naturally, when he went in a different direction everyone was bitterly disappointed.

        Povetkin was very dangerous at the time, stopping decent fighters for fun and a little younger. Now he's clean, older and looked pretty average v Hammer and Price. Also, Wilder was going to travel to Russia for the fight.

        I don't think AJ v Povetkin is a bad fight per se, it's just there's better fights out there now in 2018. Povetkin is not the fighter he was but he's still decent.

        You can't just give equal credit because it's the same guy. It's like giving Danny Williams the same credit as Holyfield for beating Mike Tyson.

            People like you were the ones who actually blamed Wilder for Povetkin failing his own damn drug test

              LOL wot? Man you UK peasants need to get off your hands and knees and stop worshipping your Queen Eddie Hearn, I know it's difficult to break out of the cycle after a millenium of bowing to your superiors but just sit down like a good boy for a second and hear me out;

              ***Wilder signed to fight Povetkin while he was still considered dangerous (and on the juice)
              ***Wilder signed to fight him IN RUSSIA!
              ***Wilder was STILL accused of fighting nobody / ducking Povetkin even after it was clear Povetkin was in the wrong (testing positive for PEDs)

              AJ is now fighting on his home turf (like the protected species he is) and fighting an older, fatter, weaker and less dangerous Povetkin - all of this AFTER ducking a fight with Wilder who managed to make a fight with Tyson Fury with no problems whatsoever - because no Hearn / AJ fuccing things up and ducking to go the easier route.

              I sincerely hope the USA invades the UK and wrecks chit up as payback - 1776 cleary wasn't enough for you yellow toothed, donkey toothed, overbite tea sippers.

                  Wilder didn't duck anyone when he signed to fight Povetkin.

                  AJ signed to fight Povetkin after pretending he was going to fight Wilder.

                    Wilder agreed to fight a roided Povetkin in Russia. Joshua ducked a Wilder fight to fight a clean Povetkin in the UK. Two entirely different situations.
