I like Ward outside the ring, he makes insightful comments and knows the game but he was a dirty, boring fighter and robbed Kovalev when USA su****ion of Russia was on the rise. There was no way they were gonna let a Russian beat the US Olympic gold medalist on home soil.
This future 1st ballot HOF’er as a pro, was 32-0 capturing the WBA & WBC super middleweight belts before capturing the WBO, WBA, and IBF Light Heavyweight belts. In the 2nd fight against Kovalev, Ward landed a thundering right hand that exposed Kovalev’s chin before he came in and went to the body to end the fight. And in the first fight, he got off the canvas to come back in win that fight. It’s not Ward’s job to referee any fight that he is in. It’s his job to win by any means necessary. And he has done that throughout his career, both amateur and pro.
No one cares about “moral victories,” except for boxing fans. It’s about wins and losses and what counts in the record books. And when boxing experts and boxing historians look at Ward’s record, they will see an undefeated boxing record, boxing champion, and an Olympic Gold Medalist. And a guy that beat the likes of Kovalev, Froch, Miranda, Kessler, Dawson, Rodriguez, Barrera, Abraham, Bika, and Green, retiring undefeated.

Floyd was so protected over the years that when anybody got close to him to land a punch, his cheerleaders act like Kenny Bayless in May/Maidana II.
Bayless while I admit was over involved... was that way because Maidana should have been borderline disqualified the first time( while I respect his tactics he was still wrong)Last edited by Gentblue; 08-24-2018, 04:17 PM.

He also won the Light Heavyweight gold medal for the United States at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece becoming the first American boxer to capture gold in 8 years.

In every sport, athletes push it to the edge. It’s a man’s sport, win by any means necessary. You must have gotten beaten up as a kid a lot. I grew up on the streets. WE are not having a fair fight at any point. And in that boxing ring, if we fight, I’m pushing the envelope and grabbing every competitive advantage I can to beat you. And I will do it when the ref isn’t looking. There is no such thing as a fair fight anymore, in any sport. Your fantasizing if you think so in boxing, that every fighter plays fair or has ethics inside the ring-LOL!!!
You don’t think GGG or Canelo will do something while they are fighting on the inside to gain an advantage.
I saw how Floyd was pissed at Canelo for something he did that the ref didn’t catch and how Canelo was complaining about stuff Floyd was doing on the inside. And getting back to Ward, he took those shots downstairs after he almost dropped Kovalev with the right hand. The ref could have pulled him off and deducted a point when he was aiming at the body or below the belt on the ropes. The fight could have been halted and Ward deducted a point or it could have been extended. But Ward knew they were borderline shots that were subjectively hard for the ref to make a decision on. And every shot to the body wasn’t below the belt. Ward knew what he was doing. All is fair in war, and Kovalev probably got away with some stuff too.
Again, it’s not Wards job to let up. Like, him, I’m firing at the borderline, if it lands low, it lands low. I will let the ref make a decision. The ref needs to address me. And who is to say, that Kovalev didn’t do stuff he got away with in the 1st or 2nd fights or any of his fights. He just didn’t get caught like most fighters. In the record books, Wards win was recorded as a TKO, that’s all that really matters. You can’t change that so live with it. And live with Ward being an undefeated Future HOFer who beat kovalev not once but twice & with a body shot-LOL!Last edited by markther; 08-24-2018, 05:24 PM.

And many fighters openly admitted they took advantage of certain things in the ring.

I just hope the fight isn't stopped early when Canelo turns up the heat and really starts liting that boy up like a Christmas tree. Wouldn't want to deny Big Red any glory
