It's gonna do a lot worse than everyone thinks. Wilder just isn't a ppv type fighter and by having it in America at 4am UK time its not getting a lot of guys from over here, I don't see where all the money is coming from.

With the right promotion this could be massive. Heavyweight champions are easy to promote, and both are trash talkers and one is American to boot.

I’d be willing to have a sizeable bet that if Tyson & Lewis came out of retirement for a rematch it’d sell better than Fury v Wilder.
It’s a decent fight, but nowhere near on the same level. Tyson was known worldwide, perhaps the second most famous boxer of all time. Lewis was an ATG at the height of his fame.Comment

Femi will get the attention soon, when we start to hear Eddie Hearn brainwashing the Media over how good a fight this is.
UK's Attention will be on Joshua-Povetkin
USA's Attention will be on Wilder-Fury
Remember 300K US PPV Buys is the same as 1M UK PPV Buys due to the pricing structure. So Wilder-Fury has a very good chance of being a better commercial successComment

Mike Tyson never did any hard-time for his crime, he impregnated a C.O in the joint and paid-off cops for perks ; Adonis Stevenson has served his sentence and is a rehabilitated man! Stevenson has been a productive member of society, Mike however is a dangerous criminal - a danger to himself and others around him.Comment

Not even close.
I think it'll be a big fight though. They will sell it very well and i can see it gaining a little bit of crossover appeal too if they're smart about how they promote it.
Tyson v Lewis was a mega fight between two fighters that were known among any sports fan in the world, like Floyd v Manny was. Mike Tyson's name is basically synonymous with boxing for people that don't even watch it.
Neither Fury or Wilder have that worldwide appeal among casual sports fans that those other fighters had. Not even Canelo or AJ do really.Comment

Ok so Warren is an idiot too like Fast Eddie Hearns. How do you compare both of those fights. Are “real boxing” fans buying this? First of all, Tyson was a much bigger draw GLOBALLY than Fury and Wilder is combined and ever will be. And as much as I have questioned Lennox’s Resume, it’s way better than Wilders and he was a much better fighter than Wilder when he fought Tyson. And Fury right now was a much better fighter than the version of Tyson that fought Lennox at the time.
And Lennox DID NOT fight a PRIME Tyson before he suffered the losses to Douglas and before he spent time in prison for alleged ****. And then loss to Holyfield twice.
BOTH Fury and Wilder are still fighters in their prime right now. Fury was out for almost 3 years after his win against Wladimir but he is still only 30 years old. And Wilder is 32 years old now. Lennox was 37 years old when he fought Tyson who was 36 years old.
Fury and Wilder are more closely matched than Lewis and Tyson ever was. Lewis was a much better fighter than Tyson at the time they fought as evidenced by his next win over Vitali and Tyson’s subsequent losses to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride. It’s an asinine comparison and any boxing fan that justified it, doesn’t really watch boxing.Last edited by markther; 08-21-2018, 08:09 AM.Comment
