Comments Thread For: Wilder: Joshua, Hearn Degraded Me - $15 Mill & No Percentage!

No boxing fan or Joshua fan can really defend this. NO percentage and you gave Parker a percentage? Parker held a belt when he fought Joshua, the WBO belt, when he beat Andy Ruiz Jr for the vacant belt. But he had no other notable names on his resume other than Hughie Fury before his fight with Joshua. So Parker isn’t as marketable as Wilder nor will his fight with Joshua make as much overall revenue as a fight between Wilder and Joshua.
As more details are coming out about the negotiations, it’s clear Hearn was trying to get over and didn’t respect Wilder as a champion. Fair is fair. But if Wilder wins against Fury, Hearns will be forced to renegotiate or the fight won’t happen. That strategy may have backfired on Hearns. They probably didn’t see the Fury/Wilder fight happening.Comment

Whytes got a pretty big following these days to be fair to himI noticed that disparity too but I also think the HW scene has somewhat exploded in popularity there (largely due to Joshua) since the Fury v. Wladimir fight.
Serious question, if Parker v. Whyte pulled 400k what do you think Fury v. (insert solid name) would pull? (Would love to hear your thoughts)
I'm willing to bet it's much larger than 400k lol (assuming it's a UK primetime card).
You have to remember when fury fought klitchko ... klitchko was a big name . He beat Haye a couple of years before and had been champion a long time . That fight sold 542,000
Wilder is nowhere near as popular as wlad was and it’s taking place at 4.30 / 5 in the morning
Hard to predict how it’s gonna sellComment

I add everything up. I didn't think he was well known enough to bring much to the table. The fact that he is american didn't mean much to me then, why? Because not a lot of american knows much or cared about his fights. So you didn't think about how much the fight could make? To me this is the most important factor. If fighting Wilder adds 50% more revenue over the typical revenue of a Joshua fight, you can't just say, well Joshua deserves all of that increase because he's popular. That's why flat fees don't work for big fights.
Seems like you are/were hung up on previous purses as if that's what determines a fighters value in an individual fight. I also think you've underestimated fan's, particularly those in the UK, awareness of who Wilder is. A fighter doesn't have to be "popular" or "liked" to have value.
Like i said in previous posts, i think the whole saga has propel his career before the Bermane S/Ortiz fights not much hype surrounding him, which for me was a shock.
Now he can command bigger pay, audience even without a bigger name, and he has Joshua to thank for that.Comment
