Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder: The Best Alternative

For the purest of purists, or at least those who adhere strictest to lineage, Tyson Fury (26-0, 19 KO) isn't just fighting this weekend. He's defending the heavyweight title for the second time. Viewed in that light, his reign isn't off to much of a start. Of course, everyone doesn't recognize merit in the lineal claim of Fury after his retirement and two years out of the ring. Heavyweight moved on without him. If and when Fury gets done with Francisco Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KO) this weekend, Fury's real career looks ready to get started again.

Fury wins no matter what, as does Wilder, they are taking a competitive risk, and could always cash in again on a rematch.

AJ meanwhile could be shut out for a year or so based on the bumbling behavior of his promoter. Fighting faded mandatories is not a pr or financial substitute for fighting Wilder, or Fury.

Remember earlier this year when Fury said he wanted to fight Joshua and everyone were saying Joshua would be a joke if he fought Fury?

Same people now talking Fury up because they think Bird Legs will fight him. A lot of boxing fans are fickle, hypocritical turds.

I agree. Hearns is losing out on top $$$... The one who is left standing after there fight can demand more money in a fight with A.J. And if the PPV numbers are high, then they could even demand a 50-50 split.

I dont think A.J us scared, but him and his team didnt see this coming

LOL, whats all this "frozen out" talk about, getting carried away by this. Like saying Golovkin froze Canelo out, whilst Canelo steadily got paid 10s of millions.

If Fury can stay in the gym, Wilder vs. Fury is a 50/50 fight, and it's a better fight than Joshua vs. Povetkin! If Fury wins tonight, he will have 3 training camps, and 2 fights, in one year! The question for Fury is what does he do after the Wilder fight? Money makes most fighters very comfortable! It's much easier to train hard when you're broke!

To Me the PERFECT scenario would be a split between the two forcing a Trilogy between them while AJ stands around beating his crumpets. That is what he gets for being a COWARD. I don't care what anyone says he DUCKED Wilder hard.

You can say this and that but the facts are there. AJ didn't want the fight. He thought he had all the cards so he was doing things like making corny demands like having to fight Whyte first. Well now your FIGHT is all but forgotten and YOU LOST 50 MILLION.....

              D1€K!!!!!

I give credit to both Fury and Wilder. In my opinion, they managed to steal the buzz from AJ. I'm not saying the winner is the best heavyweight but they will have a lot more leverage than either would have had before. If Wilder wins, he can claim he's now the Lineal HW Champ and he's defeated the other big UK name. If Fury wins, he can claim he took on the guy AJ was afraid of and beat him for AJ.

If the fight is compelling, Fury and Wilder can do it again. In that situation, AJ would be forced to fight Whyte, Big Baby or someone else. I think Fury and Wilder will be able to use their mouths and antics to hype this fight up to some pretty respectable PPV numbers.

Very sad, but I get it! Many of the greatest ones lost more outside the ring, than they ever did inside the ring! I fear Fury could win, and still lose!
