Mora turned down a fight with Golovkin earlier in his career. Then wants big money while doing nothing to earn it! Basic economics of boxing is it needs to be a draw for the fight to sell & pay both fighters what they're looking for. Has Loeffler been cheap to some opponents? Sure, but that's always been a used strategy for any promoter's fighter who's trying to build a name. I'll give you some quotes direct from Mora himself regarding the missed opportunity.

“I was offered [Golovkin] before he became a champion and a HBO sweetheart and declined. Too much risk, no reward. Now that he’s on top I will take the opportunity and expose the gorilla. Styles make fights. His style is basic,” Mora stated.

“I’m with Lou DiBella, so if they offer me a Golovkin fight and the money is more than Curtis Stevens got, I’m taking it. That’s another thing; they say [Golovkin]’s the most avoided but we’re not really seeing the offers that are being made to the opponents. I know Stevens got high 200,000s, $290,000. If that’s the offer that most opponents are being offered to fight Golovkin, then most of them are just scared.

“They make that offer over $300,000, I’m taking the fight. Absolutely.”

This comes days after Abel Sanchez, trainer of Gennady Golovkin said, “Mora’s own mom wouldn’t go see him fight…he is that boring.” It seems as though Mora now realizes he is labeled and it is up to him and only him to break out of the mold to get a big fight and the one fight that he wants badly is one that hardly anyone seems interested in, Mr. Golovkin.



Lara did some talking but never moved up to MW to bring any pressure on GGG to actually take the fight.

"No, I haven't heard from his camp. Team Golovkin has seen a whole lot of fighters use his name and star power to promote their own careers without any intention of fighting him. (Lara has) called GGG’s name many times without any intentions of fighting him. I mean from our side we're pretty neutral. We do have an exclusive contract with HBO. Ward simply used this as a publicity stunt after the Lemieux fight was already in the works. Golovkin was asked about Ward in 2012. There was no interest on Andre's side at that time. 3 years pass & the talk had never really went away so when Ward became active again & fought Smith in the summer of 2015 Loeffler sent him an offer. Why did Andre wait a month to return a letter? Why would GGG cancel his desire to fight Canelo for Ward? Why did Ward immediately leave the SMW division & in effect cancel any opportunity to fight Golovkin in the near future? Andre hadn't made 168 since Dawson in 2012 & never fought there again. Golovkin made the 50/50 offer in July. (just two weeks after Ward made his return)

That same month Hunter says "We're not leaving the super middleweight division until we take care of unfinished business and get things that we need to get done."
His next fight though was against Barrera he was at 174.8.

How is that keeping the fight alive?

By August Ward says "I don't think I can make 168 anymore."





You say that GGG's demand for CW for Ward killed the fight, but neither Cotto or Canelo's demand did the same for GGG? Golovkin was the WBC mandatory for both AT MW! It was a fight for a title. There's no reason to give in to demands of a CW when fighting for a title. The CW demand by each was simply a way to avoid their mandatory while claiming they're not MW's even though they owned the WBC MW belt. If Golovkin had given a bit, then the line would have simply moved again. Flat fee, not a draw, no resume...yadda, yadda. The fact is that both avoided their mandatory, took on weaker foes for LESS MONEY rather than fight Golovkin.



Still have no concrete evidence that SD would have taken Vanes money for this fight or even been able to negotiate in the short amount of time needed. We do know that SD & DJ's drew out negotiations even though they had the same team! We also know that Golovkin was still working towards tougher opponents for bigger money!



BJS was already signed to fight Murray. He had canceled once already due to injury & was known that he wouldn't be ready until late June at the earliest. The timelines didn't match up for either side since GGG knew he still wanted Canelo in Sept. Once again, Saunders had two opportunities to take this fight back in 2016 but didn't take either. A simple case of you passing the buck & moving the goalpost to a later date when GGG couldn't take either fight in 2017/2018 due to timelines of a bigger fight for more money with Canelo. Let's not forget that Golovkin was ready once again to fight Saunders if the Canelo re-match fell through, yet you place blame on GGG for not fighting him? The blame is squarely on BJS for passing up on his chance.

Golovkin would beat me & Eubank on the same night," said Saunders.

"I believe I'm a better champion than Lemieux was so deserve more. They are offering life changing money but it's not just about that because it would be a big risk for me. I know he wants to clean up the division, but I have to do what is best for my career. Realistically I am 18 months away from that fight," said Saunders.

“It won’t be Golovkin in April, that’s the date we were offered. It’s about making the fight on the right terms and more importantly at the right time,” Warren said.

6 months later Loeffler again made an offer.

"He says he wants it, [Saunders] and I know he wants it. That’s all about money. If the money is not right, then I can’t let it happen. It’s got to be right, because he’s seriously, seriously going into the lion’s den - a monster. He's going in there with him. The bottom line is that fight is a tough fight. I'm not saying if you get beat it's the end of the world, because it wouldn't be, but that's a tough fight. And if you’re going in with a guy [like Golovkin], then you have got to be paid for it", Warren said.

"We had numerous discussions first with Frank Warren and (Billy Joe) Saunders and that seemed to not go very far. It looks like Saunders wants to keep that WBO title for as long as possible without having to fight Gennady. When it comes to actually signing the contract it's,'Well, we'll fight him the next fight"" said Loeffler.

Thats a huge list of excuses. Yeah avoid GGG to move to LHW and fight a superior version of GGG. You said Ward would NEVER fight Kov. Now your just a lying POS!!!

yeah i guess i do, if canelo flunked on me but the fight was due in a few months for a massive payday thats all i would be thinking about, the payday, fighting someone like vanes on short notice after canelos peds, i can understand

I dont think its ****** at all, these fighters dont have that many chances to make huge paydays, this canelo fight is golovkins cashcow and legacy, not the fight before, that was nothing, a standin after peds, thats all. No one gives a **** about dere or vanes when u have $$$$ and canelo a few months later. Boxing is a hard business, sometimes u have to make these choices. If he had a normal fight in sept and avoided dere then thats a big no no.

Every so often you remind me that you have reading comprehension problems and you are damn dumb. I always said the Vanes fight was a **** fight. An incomplete is not a pass tard. It is like it didn’t happen. No credit, no fail. Given the situation, Canelo failing the drug test, I understand what happen. Doesn’t mean I liked it or will give Golovkin any credit.

To my point, tools like you get more worked up that Golovkin fought Vanes on short notice than you do about Canelo failing the drug test and ruining the rematch in May. But you’re an asshat so I guess that is to be expected.

You are talking to a guy who cannot figure out as a grown ass adult the difference between you’re and your. Guarantee he has never made a significant business decision but he is going to tell you how everything how it should be.

He is more upset with Golovkin and the Vanes fight than the fact Canelo got busted and threw everything into a mess. That tells you all you need to know about what you are dealing with.
