Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: Fury-Wilder Winner Is World's Best Heavyweight

Nobody can truthfully state they are the best heavyweight in the world and the true champion until they beat Aj, the champion with most of the belts. AJ can't claim to be the undisputed champion until he wins the WBC title belt in the ring. Nobody has to beat Fury to be the undisputed heavyweight champion. Fury's claim to the title is based on winning the lineal title almost 3 years ago. The lineal title is a mythical title made up by boxing fans with little value in the real world. What ever value it did have Fury lost by never defending it. No title last forever without defending it. Fury is just a contender now and not a champion of any kind. His old lineal title and a couple of dollars will buy him a beer. If Fury fights Wilder the only champion in the ring is Wilder and the only world title at stake is Wilder's WBC heavyweight world title. The winner must still defeat the AJ vs Povetkin winner before they can truthfully claim to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.Comment

Not really.
Boxrec has Joshua at 1 and Povetkin at 3. They're fighting in September. For Warren to be right you'd have to accept that the number 2 ranked fighter versus the generously ranked 5 somehow deserves to be catapulted into number one position. Based on what? If its Wilder then beating a guy that's not fought a top ten fighter in 3 years? If Fury wins then he's beaten the number 2 fighter in the world, but Joshua will still be number one and hold 3 times as many belts.
Warren's talking rubbish.
IMHO, BoxRec has the most screwed up rankings I've ever seen, and that's based on years and years of viewing. We all have opinions, and I can respect that; however, BoxRec's rankings just don't make sense, and Jeff Horn's ranking before his loss to Terence Crawford is exhibit number one.Comment

Keep dreaming
The man who holds every belt apart from the wbc due to the champ of wbc being afraid is the number 1 fighter for sureComment

and get a similar result. The point being that Joshua is fighting someone almost universally held to be one of the best in the division.Comment

I’m wondering when Takam and Whyte became good lmao. The Parker win was decent, but then he lost to Whytes bum ass, lmao. But in the eyes of Joshua’s **** blowers...these 3 guys are heads above who Wilder faced. I see no difference between Whyte Parker and Takam and Stiverne Ortiz and Washington lmao.Comment
