A good way is to beat a guy who is already a huge PPV star. Thats how Pacquiao and Mayweather did it. They had both done decent numbers on PPV prior to fighting De La Hoya (200k-400k buys) but by beating Oscar they exploded in popularity. Basically you can't force a PPV star you have to cross over to the casual fanbase. All big boxing fans were excited about Kovalev-Ward but it flopped because no casual sports fans know who those guys are. That's why Joshua is such a big star in the UK. I would wager that 75%+ of the people who buy a Joshua PPV do not follow boxing closely at all. If you can't cross over you won't do great numbers.
