Old Julio Cesar Chavez exemplified Mexican style boxing, cutting the ring while chasing opponents from every corner of the ring. Canelo modified that version by running and running, and ingesting clenbuterol in his system.

taking different elements from his opponent's styles.
His style has not become more boring, it's become
more interesting and versatile. I understand that
can be frustrating to watch if you think of boxing as
rock-em sock-em robots. Everyone loves a shootout
but it's supposed to be chess, not checkers.
Those who can avoid getting hit, do avoid getting hit.
Those who can't avoid it claim it's "Mexican Style".

The problem here is that if Canelo is right, and everyone is wrong about what the Mexican style is, then it means that the Mexican style actually sucks and no-one could possibly like it.
Of course, if Canelo is wrong, and everyone else is right about what the Mexican style is, it can still be respected and loved.
