Tyson's career was interesting. I remember when he was on that streak of KOs and looked invincible. Sure, I thought he was great, but during that time, he came off as somewhat genuinely mentally disturbed. So, I think most felt a bit of compassion for him.

Then, when he ****d the girl, he definitely lost a lot of his psychotic charm, but I still think that many felt compassion because he appeared so vulnerable because of tough childhood, super stardom at his age, and Don King seemingly taking advantage of him.

Then when he returned, he really became a loose canon with the "eat children" and ear biting. When he said and did that stuff, I did not cheer, but still felt a bit sorry for the guy and hoped he would become mentally stable.

The point with Tyson, in comparison to Wilder, is that Wilder garners no compassion because he appears completely mentally stable. He is not a global superstar at 21 years old. He does not have an exploitative promoter and so forth. That is why I think he is fully unlikable. With Tyson, people could always kind of feel sorry for the guy.

Finally, we are looking at Tyson in retrospect and he has done a lot to help his reputation in that past few years. He almost seems stable and I think people have forgotten how vile he was back then.
