    The GOAT candidates

So, who do you consider to be the GOAT candidates? Personally, I consider these 4:

Lennox Lewis is an obvious candidate, being the H2H best heavyweight of all time.

Floyd Mayweather is undefeated through 50 fights and has one of the best resumes ever.

Sugar Ray Leonard made Duran quit like a loser and generally has a great resume. He should be in the conversation.

Roy Jones Jr. The guy was so great that I actually think he is the one I consider to be the GOAT. Prime Hopkins and prime Toney were truly elite wins.

Let’s rank your candidates and maybe we’ll have an answer

    1. Lennox
    2. Leonard
    3. Floyd
    4. Roy

    Prime to prime p4p:

    1. Roy probably beats them all with Floyd being the toughest

    TBE:

    1. Floyd - if we base it on numbers alone; punch stats, accuracy and consistency at the highest level throughout their careers

Floyd can’t be the goat though since he lacked a signature win over a prime atg. I also believe Leonard will beat him at WW. He has the style and the size to do so. P4P it’s a different story

    So Ali or Robinson??

Ali is one of the greatest personalities of boxing ever and he was definetely the best of his time, but I wouldn't consider him among the H2H best fighters, the game has evolved a lot today...

As for Sugar Ray Robinson, I respect him a lot, but it's ancient history. He wouldn't be one of the greatest fighters today.

Winning H2H doesn’t automatically mean greatest, it’s more based on what you’ve achieved, who you beat, your body of work in boxing.
Best =/ greatest, even Floyd calls Ali the greatest, but he claims he’s the best.

H2H then hell even guys like Rigo and Loma who obviously achieved less have good cases pound for pound against anyone in history.

So if H2H is your criteria then Roy is your answer.

The sport will continue to evolve, but if what you achieved in your era isn’t achieved by anyone else in the modern era then you remained the goat.

In the nba, Mj is still the goat no matter how much the sport has evolved because no one achieved what he did. Even though his team will be burnt by gsw as well.

Or if someone would go full ******, then they could likewise throw Golovkin into the mix. But let's stay reasonable.

I agree with the list but you could expand on what makes you the GOAT. Is it just resume? What about what they have done outside of the ring?

My personal opinion, maybe not number 1 but I'd consider Wladimir Klitschko in because he had a good career but he was also a great champion as well. He acted like a gentleman and I can't remember ever hearing him complaining...even when he retired, he just said something about passing the torch on. All round good fella. Maybe he would go in around number 5?

Wladimir Klitschko is a gentleman and he was a pleasure to the sport, but no, he doesn't get anywhere near the top 5 in this conversation. It's absolutely unthinkable. I would put a guy like Ward in before I put in one of the Klitschko brothers.

As for my GOAT definition - the best fighter, H2H, relative to the weight.

                    Fair enough...opinions differ I guess.

Agree with your definition though but should include conduct as a champ.
