I thought Canelo could pull it off before he said this. Because throwing more punches will open him up more also and that’s exactly what GGG wants. And throwing more punches for anyone who has ever sparred or fought in the ring drains your conditioning more no matter how much you work on your conditioning to offset it. When you look at most of Canelo fights that went the distance, he fizzles out towards the end and his volume of punches aren’t that much. He needs to strategically pace himself and use clever counters against GGG.

It doesn’t make sense to just throw more punches, increase your volume of punches, and then focus on your conditioning to offset that workload? Bad strategy. I think they should work on their conditioning and sharpen up on their counter punching and footwork, and ring generalship and angles Canelo takes inside the ring. GGG is coming forward all night long, have a strategy to use that to your advantage, and it’s not just throwing more punches. He needs a better team and trainers around him. They are really ****** & don’t even watch what he eats.

“We have to throw more punches in every round. We need to do that to remove any doubts about the victory. For that we will work on our conditioning. That's what we needed a little more of in the first fight in order to be able to throw punches constantly in each round," Canelo said”

This "Blueprint" was already established by Jacobs & in fact Amari was the first to do so 10yrs ago when he was the last to go the distance in an 8rd fight prior to GGG starting that huge KO streak. Use the entirety of the ring, high guard, fight defensively, pick your shots & try to counter against a come-forward fighter that enjoys volume punching. It's not an original plan. Canelo simply executed it well & GGG was a willing combatant that walked into (& through) those fan-pleasing counter shots.

There are many adjustments that both fighters can make to improve their odds; Sure Caneo can throw more volume trying to up his stamina at the same time (if possible for his well muscled frame to keep the oxygen flowing) but it means he'll be open to more shots, it's why he fought defensively in the first place. He picked his shots for a reason, to conserve energy while trying to neutralize most of Golovkin's aggression & pot-shot him. The more he engages the more chance GGG has to actually connect cleanly. Something he really never did last time around. Canelo was very slick with his upper body movement & this definitely helped preserve him to see the final bell.

What if Golovkin simply didn't come forward as much & turned this more tactical rather than ramming head-first & forcing the action? He could jab Canelo all night long, simply being more selective with his shots much the same way en-route to a 12 round snooze fest. A counter-puncher needs openings & punches to actually counter. Don't give him so many. Gennady has the better jab, length, strength, use those attributes. What about head movement from Golovkin? He's become very accustomed to eating shots (since he can) rather than keeping his defensive integrity & minimizing the opponents scoring opportunities.

Offensively, GGG could step to the right & throw the right hook more rather than the straight when Canelo is boxed in. Saul did the same move over & over when rolling to his left off the ropes. The uppercut to split the guard followed by left hook was also missing at times when Canelo was bobbing back & forth. Golovkin used to throw that combination several times each fight back in the day when had opponents locked down. GGG's style is to entertain & bring the fight to the opponent, I don't think he'll change that. He can maximize his opportunities though simply by selecting a better mix of punches to score more effectively/cleanly & that's what I expect him to do the second time around.

The thing that can't be changed by either fighter is the judges. Most saw GGG as the clear winner. Even if he improves how does that change the scores? It's the easiest way Canelo finds victory while Golovkin sees his first defeat. Some things are just out of your control. Let's all just hope for a better outcome that doesn't leave a sour taste in our mouth once again.

Canelo has always had stamina issues, but now he won't and will somehow pepper Golovkin with a barrage of combos? Without his PEDs, Canelo will have less stamina, throw weaker punches, and will be less resistant to Golovkin's punches. Alvarez has the "blueprint" to beat Golovkin? He'd better go back to his architect and have it re-drawn.

Canelo will not open himself up by throwing more

he hopes to capitalize a lot more on the openings that Golovkin WILL give him with selective counters/combo's..... he already said they will not change too much, just attempt to have a little more in the tank to carry him through those middle rounds

that spells trouble for Golovkin..... because Canelo certainly started/finished better than he did

the rounds Canelo won were decisive, whereas a lot of Golovkin rounds were nip-n-tuck..... if Canelo carries his form through the fight Golovkin will lose his titles

everything Canelo said is what I predicted

the fat red kid will lite that boy up like a christmas tree

It's sad that people even care about this fight. Remember what Mayweather did to Canelo? Imagine what Ward would do to Golovkin? These guys are nothing special. They're okay, better than average, no doubt. But not elite material by any means.

ggg has only fought 2 good guys and both controversial decisions, once you step up your level you get results like this more often...
greats like floyd, oscar, pac, marquez, etc they all had several controversial decisions cuz they fought good oposition, if you spend your career feasting on bums then is a lot less likely to happen...

Sooner or later you'd think people would realize stamina is something he isn't going to have, at least not traditional stamina that a lot of Mexican boxers have. Then again, he's not built like a traditional Mexican fighter.
the thing is, he never had an S&C coach before, at least a real one, he just hired one less than a year ago and this could be the right time to start seeing results... not a big change imo but just enough to increase his output a little...
