Had he gone into survival mode, he could have recomposed himself from the first knockdown.
Kovalev may be a more intelligent fighter in your imagination, but the sad reality is that he crumbles under pressure when the action gets real and doesn't think straight... That's just a part of the fighter that he is.

Kovalev didn't crumble under pressure, he just kept on fighting because that's his character. Every fighter has his flaws.

Saying Kovalev is not on the level is wrong and false. He was always looking for the biggest challenge, while Adonis fought bums, and Fonfara twice. Badou Jack was his only decent opponent since he took over the WBC belt.

Did you just join to bash on Kovalev?

Why should I bash Kovalev? He is a brave guy. He has fought some dangerous opponents and he wants to keep fighting dangerous opponents, even after almost dying in the ring. I certainly respect that.

Who exactly on Kovalev's resume makes it a better resume than Stevenson ?...

When you put both Ward and Jack out of the equation Stevenson has the upper hand... and sadly both resumes suck balls...

Chilemba has the *best resume in LHW Division... hands down ...

While I do agree that Kovalev's resume is horrible, I wouldn't say that Stevenson's resume is that bad. It's a bit extreme to compare the two of them...

kovalev has 5 top 5 wins while stevenson has 2(his best win coming off a ko loss). kovalev has 8 top 10 wins to stevenson 4. oh yeah and he got robbed against ward. how does stevenson have the upper hand? the jack fight wasn't a complete robbery like the ward fight and jack isn't as good as ward anyway.

              kovalev: campillo top 3
              cleverly top 3
              hopkins ranked 1
              pascal top 3
              ward robbery

stevenson: dawson was the champ but coming off a ko loss
cloud was top 5 but in reality coming off 2 losses(robbery to campillo and hopkins loss)
              draw with jack

              hmmm

              • I’m glad here in Canada we at least have a place like Quebec where fighters can make money and entertain loyal fans. But it’d be nice if we could build travelling fighters to make the best. Adonis pickem against Kovalev. Might need a KO

                • I give Kovalev credit for something just not sure what. Could never tell what he was great at. But he got to the top.

Good way to end your career. He doesn’t have to retire. But rematch after getting stomped like that isn't wise

After been dropped heavily three times? His punch resistance is poor now, probably not helped by his drinking outside the ring and lazy training habits. He's easy prey now for any top contender with power who can withstand the first six rounds. Alvarez said he believed he had the right game plan for the first fight - now he knows he has for a rematch.
