I know kov has the rematch clause. I didn’t think he would exercise it immediately given the ko. If he doesn’t then I would hope Alvarez tells Stevenson to go f-ck off but he won’t because the money will be too much to do that.

Depends what the rematch clause is... Duva wasn't very prompt to call that one so my guess is it's not an immediate rematch clause... Alvarez can enjoy his hardly earned Belt and cherry pick his next opponent if he wants...

To anyone believing a Alvarez vs Stevenson showdown : No way Chickenson take that fight. On Alvarez side I see why he would take that fight but for chickenson, if he wanted to fight alvarez it would be already made, even before Alvarez won the belt, in Montreal this fight would have been huge and the money was already there, not at the same level than now with ppv sale but it would have already been made if chickenson wanted money to do the fight. So now that he saw Alvarez knock Kovalev, in no way this guy will fight him now... he’s too happy calling himself the king of land here in Canada to really put this “statement” in test/in play

Exactly. It's so simple! Why can't boxing just get this right for once? Stevenson-Gvozdyk, and Beterbiev vs Johnson or the winner of that vs someone else.

Then, the winners from those 4 brackets fight, and then the winner. By the end of the tournament, a year from now, boxing has a new PPV star in the 175 division that can generate tens of millions per fight for the next 5 to 10 years, instead of a division now which has absolutely no crossover stars and is not generating even a quarter of that money.

When will boxing learn, sometimes you need to sacrifice a percentage of the money you could make down the road by marinating fights, and just make those fights now, if you want to be able to make the BIG money in the near future? It's similar to the concept of needing to spend a little money now to make money in the future, except here they don't even have to "spend" money.
