  • Comments Thread For: Alvarez Eyes December Return: Kovalev, Bivol or Stevenson Next?

WBO light heavyweight champion Eleider Alvarez (24-0, 12 KOs) is riding high after last Saturday's huge victory over Sergey Kovalev in Atlantic City. Down on all three of the official cards, Alvarez changed around the entire fight with a huge right hand that sent Kovalev down. And then two more knockdowns finished Kovalev off.

It will be interesting to see how Kovalev reacts to this loss. Will he exercise his rematch clause, move on to an easier fight, or retire?

Stevenson isn't a realistic option. He wouldn't fight him before, he won't now

Kovalev was doing good until he got caught so all this talk of him being mentally shot by ward , i dont believe it.

Kovalev rematch or Bivol sounds good

Who cares what u believe. Bottom line is Ward was the first one to introduce Kov to punch-drunkenness.

And since some chins r like old Cadillac’s (never the same after that first real problem)
Kov is from here on out gonna be much more easily prone to KO’s

I call it the Chad Dawson effect

Definitely won't be Stevenson. He's held his title hostage ducking him for years. Now even less of a reason to want to fight him.

No boxer is the same after absorbing what he did against Ward. Those were some thundering shots to the chin.
