Is Mayweather's 2007-2015 run of consecutive opponents the best ever?!?!?

lost track of how many times you lied about a fighter being #9 pound for pound
muhammad ali. easily. easily. go from the start of his comeback, or just start at joe frazier
frazier 3x
foreman
norton 3x
holmes
that's three all time greats and a legit badass hall of famer. ali fought all of them not only when they were in their primes, but when he was past his. he really had two careers, spanning two different decades. first major run started when he stopped liston twice. during the 60's muhammad ali was the best HW ever, maybe even the best fighter ever AT ANY WEIGHT
and then you have contenders that he also fought in the 70's.
quarry
ellis
young
lyle
shavers
foster
there are more as well
ray leonard fought prime tommy hearns, prime wilfred benitez, aged but still incredible roberto duran. floyd never fought one fighter on that level [frankly never came close!] never mind three of them within two calendar years.Comment

oops i meant to say 2006-2015
Im not saying he has the best resume ever. This is just based off of consecutive opponents.
Zab Judah: 147 IBF welterweight champion. Coming off a loss to baldomir so it's not that impressive, but we are only getting started
Baldomir: 147 WBC and Lineal champion. #2 Welterweight
Oscar de la hoya: 154 WBC champion. Hall of famer
Ricky Hatton: #8 P4P. WBA Welterweight champion. IBF and the ring light welterweight champion.
Marquez: #2 P4P (Lightweight doe). hall of famer
Mosley: #3 P4P and 147 WBA champion. Hall of famer
Ortiz: 147 WBC champion # 2 welterweight boxer
Cotto: 154 WBA light middleweight champion. #2 Super welterweight boxer. Hall of famer
Guerrero: #9 P4P and #3 Welterweight boxer. WBC interim champion
Canelo: #9 P4P. 154 WBC and the Ring champion. #1 super welterweight boxer.
Maidana (Twice): 147 WBA champion. Just came off a huge win over #9 P4P little bro
Pacquiao: #2 P4P, 147 WBO champion, #2 welterweight boxer. Hall of famer
Berto: lol
ALL HAIL MR TBE
If you look at it on paper it is really one of the best. But it really differs much in reality and does not tell the entire story. It’s still a great achievement and Floyd clearly engineered his career that way.
Pacquiao on his resume is sure a great big win on paper. But it also happened 6 yrs too late with Pac showing obvious signs of decline and added some losses on his record.
Cotto was already beatin up to a pulp by margarito and pacquiao and was obviously past his best as well. He was a blown up jr middleweight. Had it happened in 2007/2008 floyd gets full credit for that.
Mosley was 36 years old. 4-3 in his last fights. And had a year long layoff since beating margarito.
Maidana already lost to alexander and Khan. And isn’t close to being a hofer
Guerrero is a newbie welter
Oscar was semi retired. Fought him after having 1 fight in 3 years after a year long layoff as well.
Marquez, a lighweight that climbed 2 divisions and he cheated him on the scales.
Canelo fight would’ve gotten him full credit if it was at 154. Damn whyyyy floyd. You could’ve beat him either way buttt whyyy.
Judah coming off a loss and Ortiz was trash.
Full credit to hatton victory
We can do that in everyone else’s resume as well. But no one did it better than Floyd.
No one has solidly engineered his resume as much as Floyd.
He has a case at TBE, but his naysayers will also have a case of being right.
Had he fought them at the time it was all demanded, Floyd might have been the clear cut TBE and greatest ever. But he chose to go the other way, he still has a case..
His greatest wins remain to be Castillo II and Corrales.
Crawford and spences of the world would not come close because they dont have the options to be.
Floyd had, but he did it his own comfortable way.
Like I said he has case.
But the haters have as well.Comment

Floyd even tried to jump from 140 and face winky at 54 yet he was blamed for that fight falling thru
The Floyd I saw fight, Hof’ers like Barrera, prince, and Morales couldn't mumble his name within pounds of him, is that Floyd fault tooComment

Floyd can't force people to fight him his biggest threats blatantly ducked him in Mosley, Manny and cotto openly too, do u forget about toothaches, and needles....

When Manny’s contract with Arum was briefly over in 2011 he sent Koncz to Floyd’s gym to negotiate for the fight. What happened? 40m deal breaker was offered.
People like to act that Manny didn’t agree to the testing til 2015. He already agreed to it in 2011.
Needles and gyms are all arums excuses.
There are others that are calling out Floyd as well. Williams, Margarito and Sergio.
Don’t you think they would have been better wins esp if he beats them in their prime than the ones he currently have?
Like I sad it’s a really really good resume. But it’s his fault there is something to say about it.
We can say the same for pac.
His best wins would probably be Bradley, barrera and Marquez at 130 only.
Floyd corrales and castillo.
You can add hatton at 147.Comment

I agree hands down best resume as a whole... 130lbs no competition routinely made tough guys look below average corrales, chavez, gatti, cotto, paqiuoa, del la hoya, mosley n the list goes on.. N they were all a few years older maybe 1 or 2 maybe 3 but mayweather was old too.Comment

Name any boxer in history and watch me shred his resume to pieces.
you can throw dirt on Floyd all you want but fact is he has the strongest resume seen in the sport since prime Ray Leonard.Comment

Did he even try making the Cotto fight? Last time I checked he retired when they were at their prime and hotshots at 147.

Anyway, this thread isnt about that. Please point out a better run of consecutive opponents. Floyd fought nothing but other champions and P4P fighters in 12 consecutive fights, who else has done that?Last edited by mcdonalds; 08-07-2018, 10:18 PM.Comment
