Originally posted by tomatocantender View PostIt was a decent fight, playboy. Berto gave away the 1st half of the fight 5 rds to 1 with a 10-8 in the 3rd, then rallied to win 4 of the next 6 but should have lost by several pts. in this playboy's opinion. However, 2 of the playboy judges gave it to Berto because he's a good ambassador for the sport and Devon got a few gift decisions in the past. All in all, it was a decent scrum for 2 fading playboys where Berto will prolly get the Thurman lottery next...lose bad and then retire for good.
From one playboy to another playboy, I thank you for your synopsis!

Didn't expect a good fight and I wasn't wrong. Shouldn't have been a knockdown, a few blatant shots to the back of the head and Fox shows that as the hilight of the KD (without anyone acknowleding the fouls). Embarrassing. I felt Alexander did enough to win but both these guys always seem to be in ugly fights so I didn't feel outraged.

Re
The life of the B-side...I had Bone winning that fight...Limpinets would land an occasional hard shot, but he was getting outboxed. Every time Limpinets would get brave and bull in, Bone would catch him with body shots or an overhand.
That's most trash talking I've ever seen Kid Chocolate do during a fight. He's usually in deep concentration, with the bug eyes glued to his opponents gloves. I dunno what that says about Love, that Quillin was able to beat him easily, while jawing with Floyd at the same time
.
I knew Berto's notorious resiliency was gonna test Alexander, and it did. Good win for Berto. Dirty shot, when he blasted Alexander off the break though.

It was a decent fight, ugly at times, and from the warnings the ref was giving Berto I could have sworn things were stacked in Alexander's favor, but evidently the judges thought he did enough. I personally thought he didn't but I guess I have no career potential as a boxing official.
