It's misguided preparation don't you think? They should be teaching him to slip punches, not take them flush in the face. The reason being is that he'll grow a false sense of security in the gym taking punches flush and it'll translate into his fights, where he'll get KOd believing he's immune to taking shots. But most importantly, as someone mentioned earlier, taking that many shots with your neck snapping back and brain being disturbed in your skull is likely to cause brain damage and shorten your career significantly. It's madness.
