  • Comments Thread For: Mosley: Garcia Facing Spence is Fearless, Also Probably ******ity

Three division world champion 'Sugar' Shane Mosley knows exactly what it's like to make the jump from lightweight to face a bigger welterweight. Mosley jumped from lightweight to welterweight in 1999, and less than a year later he was fighting Oscar De La Hoya for the WBC welterweight title. Mosley would win a twelve round split decision and many experts labeled him as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Hands down Mikey is the more seasoned, experienced, skilled and fundamentally sound of the two. If there is VADA testing and if Mikey can get himself the right kind of strength and nutrition coach, then anything is possible.

Im not from USA or Mexico but Im a Mikey Garcia fan (I wish ellie sickback would leave them alone for a day or two though) , he's just class in and out of the ring and a strong fighter but at his natural weight, he was even a bit bloated at 140 let alone 147.
He needs to hire Canelos conditioner and nutrition, he can't just be Mexican about it
Add even a bit more muscle and explosiveness with right diet and conditioning

I don't think Mikey's power carried that well up to 140. So you have to figure it will carry even less at 147.

What's with all the hate on Mikey wtf. Go goes old school like Duran wanting to go up 2 weight classes and fight the best. Instead of getting props he gets criticized. Like Clint Eastwood said this generaton nowadays have become nothing but *******. Also when Manny went up 2 weight classes it was all right same with Crawford. Many bytch on this site about certain fighters not willing to move up in weight. Now you got a guy in the top 10 pound for pound willing to go for it and it's been nothing but hate.

Man, Mikey looked flabby at the weigh in for 135 and I'm sure he rehydrated to 144- 147ish fight night. He's gotta atleast turn them flabs to rock solid muscles when he moves to ww.

I like the fight, and I'd be rooting for Mikey, but Mosley is probably right.
I think Mikey is better technically, but Spence is too big, strong, and aggressive. I don't think Garcia will be able to earn his respect or discourage Spence's relentless assault. Sometimes I like it when I'm wrong, though.

He's fighting a guy at 147 who could really fight at 160.

                - Mosley

in other words.. Spence the weight bully

Well for starter, he previously called out Linares and Cotto. Guess what? He didnt fight either of the two.

Cotto got beaten by Saddam Ali for the 154lb belt (missed opportunity really for Mikey)

Linares got KOed by Loma (could have been and equally good fight if Mikey got Linares first)

So what is the chance he'll actually fight Spence now?

Plus, if you have been following Mikey's statements in the past, as good as he is in boxing, there is an impression that he does not really have that passion for the sport - hence the diva attitude.

I thought he looked flabby too, he could still make 130 I believe.
