Whereas if he goes down the WBA, WBO or IBF route they're proven pathways to a title shot.
That decision isnt unique to Whyte and if he chooses that path so be it. It doesn't allay the possibility that a win Ortiz solidifies his position as the top contender for either champion.

Lastly, he could also call out Breazeale since it appears Breazeale has to wait as well.

It does nothing for an AJ mandatory because the other three bodies removed Ortiz from their rankings after he tested positive. The only body that would recognise the win is the same body that doesn't seem to respect its own ranking system.

Breazeale has zero incentive to face Whyte as he's already, somehow, been named mandatory for wilder. So Whyte would have to overpay him and even if he did what's to stop WBC pulling another fast one?

Whyte has a good chance of being named mandatory against AJ which would be a much bigger earner in any case. So my guess is that's the path he'll follow.

If becoming a mandatory was the only focus whyte should have fought Ortiz(wbc) or Pulev(ibf) in the eliminators. He didn't so now he has to create his own buzz and a demand for one of the champions to fight him as a voluntary. That may become a real possibility should Wilder fight Fury and then not come to an agreement with Joshua for April.

WBO may be his route. He's 2 behind Povetkin.

Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if Miller leap frogged him though. Not that he would deserve it.

            • People saying Ortiz is better than Klitschko because he Beat Jennings more impressively are deluded....Pacquiao beat the same competition more impressively than Mayweather...he was not the better boxer when they met, Chisora is also not better than Joshua and parker because he beat Takam more impressively...when are you people finally going to realise that styles make fights.

Takam gives Parker problems and makes AJ look underwhelming while Chisora kayos him. It doesn't prove one fighter is superior to another but it does show you that the matchup of styles is a huge factor. Ortiz ****s out opponents who stand thier ground. Scott was on roller skates against Ortiz and Ortiz showed no ability to deal with the movement. Scott wasn't compelled to fold like he did against Del Boy and Deontay. Cojanu is a big, plodding guy and Ortiz was able to unload his power. Parker is big and athletic but couldn't get Cojanu out because he doesn't throw alot and doesn't seem to have much of a desire to get guys out of there.

But whoa let’s not slate Mailk Scott too much! He was excellent at sticking his tongue out at Ortiz several times

It was Molina who had Deontay on bambi legs.

I've never seen Wilder take a good shot and not wobble or go down. Every time he's hit with a decent shot it's had an effect on him.

Could you imagine a big puncher landing on him? Damn. Ortiz used to be able to punch, but I think he's lost that now. And power is usually the last thing to go.
