And DAZN, at 9.99 with a month free trial, is not going to generate what is needed by either fighter.

So, someone is going to have to blink. DAZN's whole yearly boxing budget is $125M...which is about equal to how much the fight can conservatively generate if held in Vegas.

No way DAZN gets the US fight rights.

I did notice that AJ's deal in Britain is with SkySports and not DAZN. If you think that isn't also going to be a problem in a negotiation then you are nuts.

Geez, I heard of protecting a fighter but this is amazing...
Most likely scenario is Showtime and DAZN even HBO all having to fight it out for the US TV Rights and highest bidder/best pitch wins.
Or it could be DAZN gets Live TV Rights and Showtime gets Extended Highlights.

Why would Joshua being contracted to Sky Sports be a problem for anyone?
Hearn is slippery and has aligned himself with DAZN. So you are crazy if you believe Hearn will start a bidding war, DAZN will be protected and the contract Hearn sent to Wilder probably says US TV Rights will be exclusive to DAZN.

Dont think itll ever happen. Hes not a Mayweather, love nothing more than to talk about himself all day. Joshua prefers to have Hearn do all the work and take the hit from the decisions Joshua makes. Hearn actually earns his percentage from the weight/****storms he takes the hits on

I heard Matchroom get 10% of every Joshua-PPV, Joshua should have reduced that.

No, that isn't how it is going to work.

Remember what happened with Adonis and Kovalev?

Remember Duva pulling out of the purse bid she herself engineered when she thought Haymon would outbid her, forcing her HBO fighter to have to fight on Showtime or the PBC?

Showtime wont allow Wilder to fight anywhere else and Wilder seems to second that, confirming his loyalty to the network.

The other shoe, of course, is money.

Why would anyone, Hearn included, want to stage the most lucrative fight in the sport on DAZN, which will have a month free trial for some folks and only cost 10 bucks for those who pay?

Hell, AJ just signed an extension which doesn't even include DAZN so why would Wilder and his people agree to something not even Hearn and AJ are doing in Britain?

The fight will be Showtime PPV or it won't happen.

Theres not really any details on what his new contract is, doubt we'll hear any either, Matchroom keeping everything in house and all. Hes like Canelo really, not much a fan of the limelight, just fights and sporadic appearences. Love them or hate them Golden Boy took on the full scale of the hit off the Clenbuterol fallout, same as Hearn with the Wilder stuff. Hearn and Golden Boy earn their cash in that respect. You get these PBC guys, when **** hits the fan theyre on their own, chatting **** on social media, fanning the flames

If Wilder accepts a purse from a Matchroom offer, then Hearn can put the fight where he likes. Wilder is not contracted to anyone.

Likewise, if DAZN can't offer AJ what Showtime can then AJ will go elsewhere. It's not about protecting DAZN at the expense of AJs earnings. That's insane.

Never said Joshua wouldn't win. He likely will. But I doubt seriously it's a one-sided fight.

Nope, when Hearn sent the original 12.5M Contract before increasing it to 15M, he said the US TV Rights would be held by DAZN. Finkle, Wilder didn't disagree. Finkle or Wilder have never said the fight has to be on Showtime or it won't happen.

Also if Wilder accepts a Matchroom offer, Matchroom can deploy the US TV Rights anywhere they like. As Wilder does not have a contract with Showtime or anyone else for that matter

Hearn also has said DAZN have the capability to outbid Showtime for the rights, as a one off payment rather than rely on US PPV.
