But I was always the cat that pulled for the underdog, especially when it came to Iron Mike. Not due to any hatred or distain, far from it, I recognized him as one of the heavies that changed the game, but just cause so many of his opponents were beat before they even stepped in the ring out of fear alone.

The Holyfield bout was one that I thought Tyson would have trouble with because of Evander's warrior spirit and track record. I was right and although I was too ****** to bet on it, that was one of the most exiting fights I had the pleasure to watch.
Agree. I watched this fight again just last week and dont think Tyson took Evander serious enough.
I think Tyson believed he would knock him out just like his previous 2 fights after getting out of jail.
Just goes to show what a bit of heart in the ring can accomplish.

For me it was simpler than that. The wars with Bowe, Holmes, Cooper, Mercer, all told me that to Holyfield, it was just another day at the office. Too many times you've heard that Tyson mostly beat guys who were afraid of him and this was the clearest example.

U gotta admit, when Mike went down you jumped out of your seat, I did.

I'm that way. I can't help but root for the underdog. I've tried to rationalize it because sometimes it even means rooting against guys I like. But, I think it comes down to me being bored to death by fights that aren't competitive.

About this fight, I think, as others have said, Holyfield had such mental fortitude whereas Mike had cracks. Holyfield is the guy who bites down on his gumshield and grinds harder. Mike would get frustrated and perform worse when things weren't going his way.

Yea, if you gave him a hard time and took Mike past the 5th round, he was toast. You could see it in his eyes, the realization that he couldn't hurt the guy and he was being figured out. It was like a deer in the headlights.

Is holyfield the kryptonite of tyson?

I was expecting Tyson will decapitate and eat the real deal alive, I was wrong and lost alot from this fight.
