  • Comments Thread For: Parker Promoter: Wilder is Trying To Steal Money Off Joshua

David Higgins, the promoter for Joseph Parker, believes Deontay Wilder is being unrealistic in his demands for a high stakes unification with Anthony Joshua. A few weeks ago, Wilder and Joshua were unable to reach an agreement with each other for a potential fall showdown. Joshua will now defend the WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO titles against Alexander Povetkin on September 22nd at Wembley Stadium in London.

“Let’s be honest, Joshua’s the A-side, he’s a commercial juggernaut, he’s the only man in boxing who’s regularly filling 80,000 seat stadiums. Him and Eddie Hearn have built that. Who’s Wilder to want 50 percent when he hasn’t even sold out his hometown arena? "

"We wanted a good deal and we got a deal but we were also mindful of not being so greedy that they couldn’t do the deal. And that’s what’s happening with Wilder. It’s not Joshua dodging Wilder, it’s that the Wilder side are so outrageously cynical and greedy that they’re killing the deal,”

" they’re just using that to try to steal money off Joshua basically that they don’t deserve. They’re trying to steal money off Joshua that they don’t deserve. They haven’t earned it, Joshua has.”

Wilder isn't trying to steal shit. It was Anthony Joshua who demanded and then turned down a career high $50 mil pay day not Deontay Wilder.

“Of course it’ll happen. It’s [Wilder’s] first big payday. It’ll happen when his expectations come back down to earth. Until then, Eddie Hearn will keep calling his bluff. If they think they’re going to beat Joshua, why do they need 50-50? It’s almost like they see it as their one shot to grab as much money as possible,” Higgins says.

That's a fact..... Wilder is just claiming popularity by mentioning AJ's name. Someone who's sure of win would take anything however insulting, knowing the tables would turn

I hate getting into talking about money when it comes to boxing but people here tend to put their fandom before common sense it seems. Here is what people forget and it's the primary reason why managers for these guys don't take the first deals on the table. Without either man there is no MEGA FIGHT! Yes they can both make good money fighting other people but neither can make the kind of payday this fight presents without the other. So of course Wilder is going to want more money, his people aren't stupid. They know him, his belt, and the atmosphere of these two meeting is going to put more money on the table than Joshua has seen to this point. This was the case with May-Pac, and Canelo-GGG.

You've got to earn it, Deontay.

You're supposed to go over there for 35%, lose to Joshua, and then be happy to fight on his undercards.

And when others step up and want to fight Joshua, you rush in and start speaking on his bank account. Earn it - like Team Parker.
