You don’t have to tell me how many times Fury has fought in America. Actually, that’s quite irrelevant. Joshua has never fought here and a fight in the US versus Wilder would’ve been on PPV. And Joshua does mediocre to bad TV ratings in the US.
If I had to guess, at least 300K buys and that’s being on the modest side. Wilder’s star power is rising very fast and his numbers reflect that. With the proper build-up, these two running their mouth and the right narrative, it does significantly more.Comment

Thats a lot of IFs. Still dont see that happening WITHOUT a GREAT undercard. Hes not fighting anybody of note and I believe the reason he did 1mill is cause he had a name opponent. Lets see what he does with vs Brezeale, then we'll get a better feelWilder's last fight drew over 1.1m homes, going head to head with an HBO card and a UFC PPV. He wasn't going to fight on regular Showtime forever.
300k homes, @$65/$75, makes the US TV rights worth an easy $10m to Wilder, plus the live gate, and the international TV, and everything else.
Whether it's Wilder-Ortiz 2 or Wilder-Fury, everyone will sit down, and even if it's a "flop", and end up splitting at least $12m-$15m.
Wilder's already made it clear that he's not going to even talk about a flat fee with Joshua anymore. If Joshua doesn't come back with a percentage, Wilder will see how his first PPV does, and will likely grind out $10m purses with Showtime as the PPV audience grows.
And, with Joshua already sticking his neck out with locking in the double shot at Wembley, let's see how he massages giving up his IBF belt to not fight Pulev in Bulgaria.Comment

It's true that it wouldn't sell a lot without some undercard help, but the same is true of Joshua vs Fury. In the U.S., in the U.K. it would sell crazy because of the domestic appeal. Fury said Wilder would knockout Joshua, so presumably a part of him doesn't want the fight to happen and ruin his payday. Unless he is truly dismayed by Joshua's (arguable) indifference toward the prospect of facing Wilder, which I tend to believe.Comment

Tyson Fury vs Steve Cunningham did really good ratings here in America. The promotion for this fight will be great and Wilder is probably a better draw than Ward. The fight could do 200-300K ppvs.Comment
