Comments Thread For: David Price: I Want To Get This Win, Hope For Something Bigger

The name of the opponent is omitted in this promotional piece, suggesting that as usual, Price is fighting his own chin, stamina and the real very potential to be permanently injured. The guy on the opposite side of the ring is evidently not in the equation.

He went balls to the wall and showed a ton of heart, even coming out after that KO with a renewed level on confidence he hasn't had since before the first Thompson fight. If he is matched correctly he can still have success in the upper echelon of the HW division
Because Pricey ended up in a familiar position - flat on his back and out cold - most people didn't pick up on the fact that this was a different Pricey than the guy who ended up in the same position against, eg, Erkan Teper.
Price looked gun-shy against Teper, backing off behind a weak, pawing jab while Teper was walking him down. I didn't see a single punch thrown with "bad intention" by Price against a very hittable opponent in Teper.
He was throwing with real bad intention against Povetkin, and he got up and carried on doing it after being decked. Fighting like that, Price can win fights and titles at domestic and European level, and they will be exciting fights, the kind of fights that people will pay to see more of.

Price towered over Fury when they met recently, even though he’s listed an inch or so shorter. He’s an absolute beast of a human who unfortunately cannot take 1 clean shot to the chin and his career seems firmly stuck in the Corrie Sanders era. Shame really.

If you ever listen to Price analysing fighters, predicting outcomes of matches, breaking down results of matches that have already happened, etc, you will realise that he actually has a very good boxing brain.
His problem has been over-thinking in the ring, instead of just letting his punches go and banking on his power. The reason I say this is that Price, imo, doesn't have the reaction speed to be the kind of boxer/puncher he wants to be.
And, unfortunately for him, he also doesn't have the kind of chin that a HW with only average reaction speed needs to compete at world level.Last edited by kafkod; 07-24-2018, 03:22 AM.

Unfortunately for him Wilder is far more athletic, and can knock him out in one punch, so it’s a simple case of keeping distance for a few rounds, jabbing him til he tires a little bit then ****ing him out.
If Pricey goes hell for leather in the first couple rounds he has the power and size to KO anyone.
