From Hearn’s point of view Bellew is going to be embarrassed either way, so better it be in a packed stadium for twice as much revenue against someone who’s 6’9 and will probably knock him out, than watch him be jabbed to death and totally outclassed by someone the same size, for half the cash.

I think he fancies the Usyk fight easier to make. I wouldn't be surprised if this lands in Vegas at the end of the year for primetime DAZN. Big paydays for both. Or the O2 if he's confident of big PPV numbers for Bellew without Haye.

Eddie Hearn, promoter for Tony Bellew (30-2-1, 20 KOs), says his boxer has a three man shortlist of potential opponents for his next fight.

But that shortlist does not include the winner of today's World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament - as undefeated world champions Murat Gassiev and Oleksrandr Usyk battle for the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF world titles.

"I don't think so [about the Usyk-Gassiev winner]," Hearn said to Sky Sports. "I don't think the money is there for that fight [against either guy]. He wants those fights, but it's my job as well to say 'That's a very, very dangerous fight. I'm not letting you take that fight for a third of what you got against David Haye.'"

Absolutely! Bellew would once again be the underdog against a man who's green at HW. Usyk is a CW moving up to HW and is not some big punching dude. Usyk also looked very uncomfortable everytime Gassiev landed a big shot. I think Bellew likes his chances in another fight where nobody expects him to win.

Bellew was there to collect a retirement payday, Haye clearly was injured so their was demand for a rematch, he lucked in.

I think Bellew takes fights he truly believes he can win. I can't see him ever fight AJ or Wilder no matter how much money he'll get. Usyk is another opponent I think he likes his chances.

I think we’ve already discussed this but in case you forgot the argument is circular and asinine.

Enough of this contract bull****e. Let me give to you one of the more educated quotes on this site.

A-side/B-side nonsense don't matter. A championship fight that is gonna draw world attention should be fair and equitable to both fighters - period. The AJ/Hearn nonsense was none of that ... it really is mindless for anyone to insist that a champion fighter should accept any old contract with any kind of blatant unfair and demeaning conditions in it. If a fighter CHOOSES to sign it (for their own reasons) okay, fine ... he signed a bad deal (knowingly by choice). But, if they choose to pass honestly we should all applaud. As fans we should want championship fights to be good deals for the fighters. No fan should be mouthing about a fighters skill, heart, or desire based on said fighter not signing a bullsheet contract. That would be a fan-girl talking. Not a fan, nor an educated adult.

As educated adults, and fight fans, we should want every fighter to get a fair contract, based on the risks and inevitable damage fighters suffer doing their craft.

I'm not anti-AJ or anyone else. But BS is BS. I never remember an opponent of Ali bringing a stinking contract to the public's attention as a complaint. They must have gotten a "reasonable" and decent contract for the time. That's called respecting your opponent, your trade, and ultimately yourself. Particularly in highly anticipated world event types of fights.

BS is BS ... all fans should call it like it is, no matter who you like. Only kids and ignorant people wear blinders when it comes to business (and "root" for their favs regardless) Fight fans want everyone to win and be well in the BUSINESS of the fight.”
