Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Warns That Liam Smith is Live Dog With Munguia

THE PROSPECT OF becoming a two-time world champion is looming for our own Liam Smith when he steps into the ring at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning. Of course, frustratingly, Liam could have already held the distinction had illness not prevented him fulfilling a challenge to Sadam Ali back in May. Ali pressed on with the scheduled date and ended up coming unstuck against the new kid on the block, Jaime Munguia, a 21-year-old Mexican with a record that suggests he carries a bit of clout.

The bigger question is will Smith expose Munguia? My concern is that Munguia’s team got overly excited what he did to Ali but this isn’t the same. He’s fighting a true experienced welterweight. While Munguia may win by KO the question is how his performance fairs cause he do leave himself open and doesn’t have very good defense and keeps his mouth open a lot. His advantages is power in his punch, his height, and accuracy with his punches. His disadvantages, no head movement, defense is poor, keeps hands low, and moves slow. What if we are underestimating Smith. He had been training to fight Ali so that’s weeks already in preparation. Now that Munguia defeated Ali, Smith already knew he was fighting Munguia next cause he’s the mandatory that’s more weeks of preparation. No disrespect to Munguia, he is a good fighter but still inexperienced and will improve years to come, but we’re in the now and if I have to be honest based on what I seen in Munguia’s previous fights he hasn’t done much to make the necessary adjustments to take him further. In hindsight, this will be a good test and learning experience for Munguia which is why for me and I’m sure just about everyone paying attention to this kid agrees that Smith is a perfect opponent

Great observations! however the kid is 21! if he fought the way he did vs ali (poor Defense) is because ali presented No Danger! beefy is a great test for him. JM might need a new corner to take him to the next level. I know Zanfer got the money to invest on JM. Franks statement is not the best example! Live dog? really... JM is from TJ. they make tacos out of dog! LOL just saying... saludos ala gente de TJ senores... although not the most skilled fighter. JM is putting a beating on Beefy!
