If nobody knows him may I ask why 700k people in the US watched his last fight? I'm from New York and everyone I know has some idea of who he is.
He is in the papers and on the news a lot. Only a couple of days ago he was in the NYT

To say or suggest nobody knows him in NY is to suggest people in NY have zero clue about fighting or combat sports. That we haven't a clue who the HW champion of the world is. Which suggests you don't know NY very well.Comment

Hearn seems to do more harm than good. I totally agree Joshua is the A side and deserves the bigger percentage. But a fight of this magnitude, Wilder shouldn't be getting no 15 million flat fee. 60/40 or 65/35 purse in favor of Joshua plus split in PPV sales is reasonable.Comment

Please listen to me very carefully. I never once said that Wilder was popular in the U.S. As a matter of fact he is not popular in the U.S. and neither is Anthony Joshua.
My only point was that Wilder was more famous in the U.K. Than Joshua is in the U.S. Which is an undeniable and irrefutable truth. More people know Wilder in Great Britain than more people know Anthony Joshua in America.
Let's just take last Tuesday for instance in New York, you had Boxing's unified heavyweight champion of the world at a press conference and hardly anybody showed up or even noticed him outside of YouTubers and hardcore boxing fans. Had that been Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali or even Rid**** Bowe in their primes, it would have been a goddamn mob scene there.
Lastly, more casual fans have heard of or know Deontay Wilder in the U.K. Than more casual fans have heard of or know Anthony Joshua in the U.S.
You say that hardly anyone showed for Joshua's presser in the US. Well, it's because his opponent is not American and neither is he. If Wilder held a presser in the UK for a fight against Breazeale, do you think that would be a mob scene?Comment

People are arguing that Wilder deserves more money. The funny thing is, he initially accepted the $15 million offer! Now that negotiations have stalled, he's demanding a 50-50 split, why? What has he done to justify the change in the amount he will accept? Is this some kind of penalty thing for him, because they failed to make the fight happen next? It doesn't work that way.Comment
