Comments Thread For: Trainer: Pacquiao Proved Doubters Wrong, There are Many Haters

This past weekend in Malaysia, eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao won by knockout for the first time in nine years to claim the World Boxing Association welterweight title, and made a proclamation. It was Pacquiao's first bout since a contentious loss last year to Jeff Horn in Australia, and since parting ways with longtime trainer Freddie Roach to work with Buboy Fernandez.

Glad to know that Fortune knows that there are many who don't support Pac anymore.

Well yeah alot of people did say this was the fight that will send Pac to retirement. Hopkins said it. Wright said it. Mosley said it. The only one who called it and got it right was Julio Cesar Chavez, he even said Manny will KO Lucas. Alot of people dont like being proven wrong and Manny just ruined their plans

Justin Fortune is wrong. There were many fans wanting Pac to succeed in his comeback. However many had genuine concerns about his well-being; Mostly were fans of his, who were curious to know whether or not he still had it because they didn't want to see him get hurt in there. That wasn't hate. That was love.

Beating a over the hill Lucas doesn’t prove anything! I’m a pac fan and wish him nothing but the best but he is not beating Crawford,Spence,Thurman,Loma hell even Danny Garcia.

Yes I'm no Pac hater, nor a John McEnroe hater, but this is a bit like McEnroe winning a seniors tour, beating Lendl in the final then saying he's going on to compete in the US Open.

I guess there are flawed/aged/inactive names/opponents who could be hand-picked for a 'final run', eg Khan, Mauricio Herrera, Mike Alvarado etc. Zab Judah's still fighting.......

This reminds me of when Trinidad came out of retirement and beat down Mayorga. People swore the tito of old was back. Next fight he faced a prime winky Wright and we quickly learned that tito was not back. Pac beat an easy to hit punching bag. If he fights anyone elite, it will not end well for him.

Did I miss something? Was Lucas a top p4p fighter? Good win for Manny but let's get real! Lucas is not the same fighter he once was at140. His power never carried to147 so that monster mystique dissolved. Lets not forget Alexander schooled Lucas a few years ago & Postol made Lucas quit!
