Pacquiao at 39, and last time he made 135 was 10 years ago, is believable.

Question for these fighters draining themselves to weight classes they "can" make, is "should" they do it? Especially 35+ year olds, going down in weight classes they haven't made in 10 years? Is it safe for their body? Will they be at 100%? Are they going to give their fanbase a fair performance?
      yep..........

good post kev. I think alot of Manny fans forget the context of the ODH/Manny and Roy/Tarver fights and assume Manny and Tarver beat unaffected versions of these guys.

Going down in weight at this stage of your career can be a problem.

Under today's rules of weighing in 32 hours before the fight most welterweights train at about 157 pounds and drop about 10 pounds of water to make weight and then gain that 10 pounds back on after the weigh in. Oscar foolishly got down to 147 weeks before the fight and stayed there. His body sort of shut down and he could not gain any weight after the weigh in as was very weak. Pacquiao can easily make 135 and be strong as a bull. He walks around at 141 FFS.

Pac is lightweight fighting at a welterweight and stilll dominate the division in his prime.

I think Loma is right in wanting this match at 135.
Loma just jumped up two divisions and to ask for a third against an ATG is a big ask.
            Loma/Pac 135. Let's do it.
This will be a great fight at 135lbs.

but gaining weight when your older is a lot easier then losing weight

plus it not like pac has a lot of body fat he always look in shape so he might have to cut muscle

Ray Beltran, who trains with Pacman, has also said that Pacman is smaller than he is, and Beltran fights at 135.

                  Bring on Pac-Loma!
Pac-Man would benefit from a catch at 142

6 lbs of water alone is a very easy. Typically a boxer who cuts weight drops 10-12 lbs by dehydration...some quite a bit more. 6 lbs is nothing without really trying to lose fat...just whatever would come off from a normal training camp and a sauna before weigh-in really.
