He would have been reasonable, taken a cut of the purse, and the fight would have gone on.

Kathy Duva told a story once about Arum during the Gatti-Mayweather build up; Gatti went out and partied the night before the first press conference and got so ****ed up that his manager called Kathy the next day, and said Arturo was hung over and wasn't going to come.

Kathy though Bob was going to start yelling at her, but instead he said "Okay here's what we're going to do" and cooked up the story about Mayweather and Gatti hating each other so much that they refused to do press together, and that Gatti would have his own press conference the next day.

Bob is just trying to get paid and keep it moving.

Arum is full of crap (like always) and only cares that he likely lost money on this event.

That's what he gets for making this fight to begin with! They want him back on 9-14 which is ******. It's the biggest fight of the year in Vegas, all the focus is on GGG vs Canelo and no one will give a flying flip about a Ramirez fight on the Friday before.

The only thing that date tells us is that there will be another chump lined up for 9-14. Viva JCCJR all over again!

Boxing went to day before weigh-ins to try and prevent things like this. But I think it’s been counterproductive. Most guys nowadays are fighting at least one division lower than they should be. And it’s likely some are fightin two or three. And it’s almost outta necessity. Fifty years ago this kid would have at least been fighting as a welterweight. But if he tried to fight a welterweight today, he’d run into a guy like Errol Spence, who would have been a middleweight fifty years ago. If they go back to morning of weigh-ins, it would force guys to fight in their natural weight class.

They really have to do something about these gigantic weight cut measures and 20+ lb re-hydration. Lots of fighters do it and can get away with it when they are young. Then all of the sudden the body is not as forgiving or as elastic.

Guys like Joan Guzman, Brandon Rios and many others ruin their careers from weight issues. We see guys like Tank Davis playing with fire now.

Guys that rehydrate 20lbs are cheating. I think the fix here is scheduled weigh-ins throughout camp. Floyd was an athlete and stayed in shape which is part of the reason why he was so good. Being in shape all the time makes you stronger and able to do things other guys can't do. No reason why anyone else can't do that.

Why is everyone blaming Arum? It's the kids fault for not being in shape. O'Connor is 33 years-old and hasn't fought at 140 since 2011. He's fought at 47 AND 54 since then. He wanted to try and get an advantage and it backfired on him.

If I was Arum, I would release him from his contract if he has one.

at this age B Arum should be more concerned with his next journey. Not money.

Not a bad list?? But I would like to add Gervonta Davis. Who is HUGE for 130 AND has already lost a belt before on the scales. Heck he was 144lbs 3-4 weeks before the fight.
