He'd probably prefer a rematch with Vanes even more.
Saunders is better and more proven than Charlo, so why wouldn't he take on the bigger fight? Plus it's a unification. Seems the natural step to take. Charlo hasn't beaten anybody of substance and is nothing more than a hype job at this point.

GGG recently lost his IBF title for refusing to defend against his mandatory. Should he give up his WBC title for the same reason? This is the man who claimed that unifying & defending titles is his ultimate priority. Now his trainer & fans are justifying avoiding mandatory opponents. It's convenient to call Charlo a "hype job", but in reality most experts are impressed by him and fans are eager to see if he can fulfill his potential. Charlo is big, young, and more aggressive than Saunders, and he's less likely to "run" or employ a defensive strategy. Golovkin would rather chase a man who is afraid to engage than to fight a hungry, young lion who is looking for a knockout. It's obvious why GGG would prefer to fight Saunders for the WBO title instead of defending his WBC title.

They are still mostly unknown. I didn’t say whether they were good or bad. Just that the other guy wasn’t right. They are pretty much nobodies.

Comedy. Vanes has been semi-retired for years, and is obviously past his prime. Never mind the fact that he's not really a middleweight. You should have lost respect for Golovkin when he personally selected Vanes to be his opponent. People cannot say Charlo does not deserve a Golovkin fight, and then justify him defending his title against Vanes.

You're right, and Golovkin would prefer to potentially lose a decision to a man who is afraid to engage, than to potentially get knocked-out by a strong, aggressive, young lion.

"[Who would I prefer to fight next?] I think that is a question more for my promoter, Tom [Loeffler]. I have a lot of demands. I think the WBC has a challenger [Charlo]. I think the WBA has Murata. At this point, probably Saunders... why not. I want all my belts. My goal is all my belts," Golovkin said.
Because Golovkin went forward with the Canelo rematch, instead of defending his IBF middleweight crown against mandatory Sergiy Derevyanchenko, the sanctioning body stripped him of the title.

Proof in black & white but lies with ALL the lil g fans....LMMFAO! You guys sound SO ******....LMMFAO!
