  • Comments Thread For: Jacobs-Derevyanchenko IBF Purse Bid Postponed Until July 10

The IBF informed BoxingScene.com on Wednesday night that the purse bid for its mandated middleweight title bout between Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Daniel Jacobs has been postponed until July 10. Their purse bid had been scheduled for noon Thursday at the IBF's headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey. The postponement affords promoters Lou DiBella (Derevyanchenko) and Eddie Hearn (Jacobs) five additional days to reach an agreement for their 160-pound championship match without a purse bid being necessary.

If Jacobs manages to grab the IBF belt then I would be much more interested in seeing a GGG/Jacobs rematch. He's looked lackluster in his last two outings but hopefully he can get a convincing win against Sergiy.

Thought DiBella asked for an immediate purse bid because Hearn was asking for too high of a split & Lou wasn't interested in further negotiations? Gotta love all the delays IBF keeps giving to it's contenders, whoever fights for this title still may not take place until after GGG v Canelo.

Yes, it is fishy that the IBF gives one postponement that was requested by the different promoters. All of these postponements, by which, I mean the only one.

g was told he had to fight Derevyanchenko by Aug. 3. G then decided to fight a retired guy from a lower division and to vacate his title. Once it became clear he really was vacating, the IBF announced who would be fighting for the vacant belt, and have given one extension, at the promoters behest.

g vacated to avoid a guy with 12 pro fights, with zero fights against top 30 opponents. Yes, g really did that. He was so terrified of this guy who has never fought anyone even halfway decent, that g gave up his belt to avoid him. To fight a retired guy from a lower division.

            g is officially a eunuch.

That's the "Mexican style" g has, vacating to fight a bum from a lower division, instead of keeping the belt by fighting a bum in the same division.

Some fighters rise to the occasion, look at BJS.

Derev has all this hype, but from what? People looking for another Ukrainian to praise. Don't forget Shart-bransky at LHW

Where are you getting that the promoters asked for the postponement from? Article says nothing about either side requesting it. I already stated that DiBella asked for an immediate purse bid, but that's now suddenly not happening.

Yes, this was delayed already because it took IBF a week to even order this fight after GGG was stripped. They had a full month to work out what their contender order was & should have been announced asap since that was the whole reason for stripping their champion in the first place.

So that's 2 weeks of delays already simply to negotiate a fight while Golovkin was supposed to work out a better opponent in less time than that. There's still nothing saying this fight will even go through, may have to start the whole process over again with the next option & then there's still 2 months for each side to train.

g chose to vacate so he could fight Vanes. When g asked for permission for an optional, the IBF told him, if he fights an optional on May 5th instead of the unknown bum, he would have to fight the unknown bum by August 3rd.

g said he agreed to this, knowing that he would either fight Derevyanchenko by August 3rd or vacate his belt. He chose to vacate to fight a retired guy from a lower division. The IBF gave him the option, and g said he would fight Derevyanchenko within the allotted time. Then he decided he didn't want to and so he vacated. If g would have just vacated from the beginning instead of lying and saying he was going to fight his mandatory, this fight would already be scheduled.

If anyone is mad about how long it has taken, then g is the only party to blame.
It is his fault. He is the one who vacated to avoid the dreaded Russian taxi cab driver.
