Not really sure what happened with Conlan, he was robbed at the olympics then gets notoriety by giving the judges the middle finger.

Next thing you know he's at madison square gardens for his debut??

He's going have a decent fan base even in the US as there seems a lot of Irish there but whilst he seems a decent fighter he doesn't seem as good as his promoters seem to think.

Yip I was there tonight and it did underwhelm a bit, crowd was dead. I noticed early on he didn’t seem to have too much power and he struggled in close, but he moves well, nice and fluid and maybe another five or six fights he can really become something. I hope so.

Obviously Top Rank tries to ride on the coattails of McGregor with this one, cash in on the Irish thing, but if Conlan can’t learn how to somehow excite people then it fails.

I can watch him though, like I say, nice movement, switches well. But I guess we’ll have to see

Conlan will go down as one of those guys who was a much better amateur than pro, I think.

You guys are all right. Michael Conlan had a great amateur career. With only 8 fights in his professional career it's premature to judge him just yet? He hasn't even gone 10 rounds yet let alone 12. He's already 26 but it's a young 26. I think about 10 to 12 more fights we will know. He has a fan base and that never hurts.

Absolutely awful to watch, worst move he ever made was taking on Adam Booth, he's boring and getting worse, not better..

I cannot disagree. I just don't understand what the fuss is about. He seems decent. He is still young enough to get better I suppose, but they better move him slow.

I have seen conlon on TV twice and he does not impress me he'll probably get a shot in another year and a half or two years but he's not an elite... he's far from it...

@TJhighway you're right he does need time to develop but he's only being judged the way he is as he's being pushed and promoted as a star already.

Be nice to see how he'd get on against Kiko!

That's too bad! If he were a Golden Boy fighter we might see him at the Belasco Theater or one of the casinos in the South Land instead of the national spotlight. He has yet to make the jump to 10 and 12 rounders. Every journeyman he fights is trying to make a name for himself.

Shame on the "Bob Father"! Let him mature and then you will make some real money you greedy bastard!
