Why on earth would the WBA have given Hearn over a months extension on the Povetkin negotiations so he could negotiate a fight with Wilder for next April ... after the Povetkin fight had already happened?

He was claiming to be negotiating for an October/November fight, but when it came time to actually sign the fight, he refused to sign a fight for that time frame.

Hearn has never ever given Wilder the chance to sign for a fight in October/November. When it was time to put pen to paper, Hearn switched it to April.

The reason Finkel was given a date in April was that he kept stalling until the WBA lost patience and ordered their mando with immediate effect, meaning AJ vs Wilder couldn't be done any earlier..

Your version of events doesn't make any sense. Things would only work that way in the IBF. In any other organization, unification trumps mandatory unless there's already been a purse bid. In the IBF, unification trumps mandatory unless the mandatory has been officially ordered.

This is how we know Hearn's position is bull****. Because in the WBA, unification trumps mandatory until the purse bid is actually held. The WBA's 24 hour deadline was irrelevant. A formality that would have led to a purse bid a couple weeks later, leaving two weeks to still sign the Wilder fight.

The WBA must have decided that the negotiations had gone on long enough. They held off for nearly 2 months after ordering AJ to fight Povetkin and there was still no guarantee that a contract with would have been signed if they'd waited another 3 days.

Sure no guarantee...but what's 3 days when you've waited weeks. Team Wilder was open about how they wanted the contract modified so they could sign.

So we have to assume that Hearn told the WBA the status of negotiations on Monday (including Finkels Sunday reply) and Mendoza simply said....so we don't care give me a date for Povetkin.

I dont believe Mendoza made such a decision.
