The only clear thing here is that Eddie Hearn did not want Joshua to fight Wilder in his next fight
The AJ/Wilder marketing strategy is working, Deontay is finally getting publicity!

Well its obvious that both fighters are getting more publicity right now and it will not really stop until the fight happens by next year. The negotiations wont be getting easier though, depending on how both opponents do in their next fights.Comment

I am not even saying the fighters are both involved and want to delay the fight, but Hearn/Haymon/Finkle want to, or lets say at least they wouldnt mind if the fight is happening in 2019. They both would take the fight now if they were really happy with the negotiations and obviously they are not, so rather have more time to promote, to build up the hype and hope the fight gets bigger and everyone makes more money.Comment

u could say the same thing about Ryan Garcia already headlined his own show at 19 and has more followers than the American heavyweight champ on ALL social media platforms.Garcia has a big following and is one of the most popular American fighters. Wilder not having the biggest following of all time doesn't change the fact that he has a much bigger following than most. Ratings, social media, attendance, etc all indicate Wilder is one of the biggest American attractions in boxing, if not the biggest.
That being said if your a boxer not named Floyd Manny Oscar or Tyson u aren’t very well known in this country.Comment

I have to agree...it's all a big game.
Like the 50mil for AJ........that money never existed.
These guys are just playing everyone with fake news and it's working.Comment

So? Because Garcia is popular nobody else is allowed to be popular either? Your argument doesn't make any sense. Wilder sells more tickets, does better ratings, and has more followers than 99% of American boxers. If you find one or two guys who happen to sell more tickets, do better ratings or have more followers, good for you, but that doesn't mean Wilder is unknown. He has consistently been Showtime's biggest attraction for years, stars in a hit reality TV show, is frequently featured on major black TV and radio programs. Has had several knockouts go viral on social media. People are finding out who this cat is. He gets more mainstream attention than pretty much any American boxer.
Okay and if that is your definition of "known," I have no problem with that. In that sense, the only active boxer close to known in this country is Canelo and he's not American. Of the American boxers currently active, the numbers strongly suggest Wilder may be the most well known of all of them. That being said if your a boxer not named Floyd Manny Oscar or Tyson u aren’t very well known in this country.
But boxing is a niche sport in this country, so even the most well known boxer isn't going to be known the way a top British boxer is in the UK.Comment

Canelo and GGG are both more known that wilder. Merger is a household name. Boxing isn’t a popular sport in this country there aren’t many household names. So? Wilder is 10% as popular in the USA as Joshua is in the UK. What’s telling is Wilder has no endorsements while Jordan is all over GGG and Andre Ward, Canelo has tecate and Hennessy. That tells u that American advertising execs feel Wilder is unknown.Comment
