It goes to show that Wilder is a coward who refuses to fight unless he gets ridiculous terms. No matter which way you cut it up, Wilder is a punk for even having the audacity to ask for something so pathetic. And with you defending it when you would call it out if the shoe was on the other foot only makes it worse.


If Wilder really wanted the fight, he'd be reasonable considering he's the B side. Quite clearly he's not.

Ok, I watched. Here's what I took from it.

Regarding the 2 issues Wilder's team had:

1. He basically said the date and venue issue was a non-issue. That's really all he said about it.

2. He said the original offer that was agreed to was only for Joshua to have a rematch clause and not for Wilder to have a rematch clause.


With regards to the date/venue, of course that would be important. Particularly the date. What would stop them from putting a date in 2019 on the contract if they don't settle the date? I'm still not really understanding how they can even sign the contract if there is no date. Hearn, in your video, says that after the April 2019 date was revealed, he told Finkel in the email, "Please feel free to insert the date into the contract." Well that shows that they could have changes made and the contract sent without having to draft a new contract.

With regards to the rematch clause, someone is lying, or someone was not told all of the information, or there is miscommunication. It seems Wilder is saying the original offer was for there to be a rematch no matter what. Hearn denies this. There are various links that say this was to be a two-fight deal which seem to back up Wilder, unless it meant a two fight deal...only in case Wilder won.

In any event, a rematch in case Joshua won clearly wasn't in the contract. Here is what I think happened. The original term was for the 2 fight deal, but didn't give any details about it. When the contract arrived, the 2 fight deal was specifically stated to be only in case Joshua lost. Wilder's team took exception to that, and though they didn't like it, they were seemingly willing to move ahead anyway.

"We don't agree on one of those issues but we will move ahead and if he wants to get it done it will get done," Finkel said. "There's nothing that should prevent this fight from getting done if Joshua and Eddie want to make the fight."

Above, Finkel went on record saying there is one issue that they don't agree with, but they are willing to go ahead. I'm pretty sure this was about the rematch clause, since we haven't heard about anything else other than the date and venue.

And finally, with regards to whether Finkel planned to return the contract signed...someone is lying or there is a misunderstanding:

Without the date, I'm still not sure how they could sign the contract, but Finkel went on record saying what was meant is that the contract would be signed Friday. Hearn has insisted the ESPN article states that they will return the contract with notes on Friday, unsigned.

I'm wondering if Finkel is saying the issues can be settled by Friday and that's when they would return the contract. Clearly, as per Hearn's mention above, he asked for the date to have that placed on the contract before returning it.

It does seem he wanted to send a signed contract. You may disagree, and that's fine. I think no one can really tell.

But I don't think anyone can truly doubt that Wilder's team tried to make this fight. The $50milliion offer, the agreement with $15million flat fee, the acknowledgement by Hearn that Wilder was sending emails to AJ urging him to get the fight done.

The thing I can agree with Hearn most about is that this was more Hearn vs. Finkel rather than AJ vs. Wilder. We haven't heard from AJ since that gag order (I'm guessing), but these guys are fighters. Both will fight. It's still not completely clear what happened with Hearn and Finkel. Did the contract have to be sent back for any reason at all, or could all the relevant info. just be added? We already heard from Hearn that the date could simply be added. As for the rematch, that likely wasn't going to get changed, so there would be nothing left to do except sign and send.

Maybe even more info will come out soon.

But here is something that is also interesting(I don't think it's so important, but one of the guys I was talking to kept bringing this up, and I'm not sure if it was you...)

I'm almost certain Joshua's signature wasn't on this contract. Without the date and venue, I severely doubt they have it signed. Also, in the video, Hearn says, "Sign in, because our signature will be on it before yours is even dry."

Just because Wilder doesn't usually make $15 million doesn't mean he really only makes $2 million. Filed numbers for in house Haymon fights are fake. Fake numbers to minimize taxes and sanctioning fees.

Hearn was in the middle of getting the venue and date sorted. Had he done that first, it would have meant more time wasted. Fights have been done before in the past without dates or venue.

Finkel wanted a guarantee the fight would be NEXT. Finkel didn't need an exact date or venue, just clarification that it would be NEXT. Hearn was trying to fool them into being locked into a contract and then being stuck doing the fight next year after Povetkin.
