Maybe outside the US where other countries don't have access to certain sports. In the US, WBSS, Bellator and Matchroom boxing isn't enough to buy the app. Those aren't going to be on every day. Bellator is shown on the Paramount channel and they're only showing a few exclusively on DAZN, Matchroom cards are crap. DAZN might have rights to show NBA, MLB, NFL etc. outside the US but we get those included with our cable provider and they ain't going anywhere since they're locked in for the next 5 years to network channels. I've read the NFL that is streamed in Canada through DAZN is garbage with a lot of buffering and delays.

Other thing for me is if the April date is correct then surely Joshua could do two fights before then if (and it's a big if) he beats Povetkin comfortably. He could for instance take on Miller in December in New York which would help drum up the USA audience before the wilder fight
Good shout. They've said all along that they will do 3 fights this year if they can go through with the September date.
Hell, maybe Hearn will offer Miller onto the AJ undercard at Wembley against Ortiz to help build it? I'm sure he would earn more than if he was fighting Pulev.Comment

Am sure he already has Breazeale’s deal agreed. Both camps have, they are just playing everyone else. Breazeale already let that slip and we can all see how eager Hearn is with the Povetkin fight.Comment

How does this increase his visibility in the US?
No one is going to buy that app to watch him here. This makes little to no sense. The only person benefitting from this is Eddie.Comment

Well the app hasn't even even launched yet in the US so I don't know why you're so sure it won't be successful. The fact is that OTT streaming is on the rise and traditional cable/satellite is in decline. Obviously Perform Group is focused on the future and I hope they succeed in America because more $$$ in boxing is good for the sport.Maybe outside the US where other countries don't have access to certain sports. Nobody is going to sign up for that service. I'd be surprised if they got 50k US subs from this. Not a shock that he was going to use Joshua as a way to launch DAZN in the US, why on earth wouldn't he use his biggest asset to launch his biggest deal.
People may moan about subscribing to DAZN to get the fight, but the first month is free, you can subscribe watch Joshua/Povetkin and any other fights that month then cancel your subscription. It's literally a free fight and a damn good fight too.
Fans get a free fight, Hearn and DAZN get to launch with a big **** with a marquee fight and even Joshua and Povetkin do well out of this as DAZN will pay more than Showtime would to secure this on their platform.
It's a **** ideaComment

Exactly!!!Joshua can't even get more then 300K fans to watch the fight for free with their showtime subscription. Now telling those fans who already pay for Showtime go buy DZN or whatever this shyt is called to see a fight vs Povetkin?
And oh yeah Hearn BS about not wanting to put a fight in the month of Sept to stay away from Canelo/GGG yet he is now fine airing this fight in sept. Hearn built phony roadblocks to kill the fight and take millions out of Joshua's pocket SMHComment

The important thing for us is to maintain the belts and not be disrupted by people playing games or people who want to mess us about, because we’re not going to allow that to happen to Anthony Joshua’s career.
This says allot about why the fight isn't gonna happen next. He doesn't want to put AJ in with Wilder so he can ride that money train a little while longer. All Hearn had to say was we feel AJ needs a few more fights before we put him in with Wilder and that would be understandable. But to turn down $50 million when AJ said he'd sign tomorrow is a bad look altogether and then they tried to say Wilders team didn't have $50 million and said it was a stunt. Then tried to make it out to be the location was a big issue until Wilder said he'd fight in the UK. It's like they keep coming up with any excuse they can to dodge it. It could be a while before they fight and it may never happen if Povetkin KO's AJ which is a legit possibility. Not only that if AJ is successful he's going to rematch Whyte-Parker winner and big baby Miller wants his shot see where this is going..... LolComment

Obviously less people will see it if its on DAZN as opposed to Showtime, that isn't the point. Hearn's goal is to bring subscribers to DAZN. He has no relationship with Showtime so having Joshua fight on there does nothing for him.Comment
